Federer's new racket?

Any chance he debuts this at the Games of the XXXI Olympiad? As much as I'd love to demo a bunch of the legends' racquets, I've never been able to rationalize spending even $100 on a tennis racquet.

Intresting design and specs, although he's probably only made it for the fans.
Very classy looking frame, indeed, just like Roger. but Is Roger really switching to this frame or is it just for the Public to slobber over and googoo gaagaa over ? and shell out $249 that they can't afford......

At least they could have added white, gold, or red accents besides an all black racquet. Honestly, it looks unfinished and like they didn't put much work into designing the aesthetics, I mean its like they pulled a clipart of Roger Federer.

Black leather grip? Velvet finish? I can see this paintjob chipping so quickly. IMO lazy job by Wilson and poor design choices by Federer. Though I do like the PS97 or whatever that has the red in it, that looks a lot better.

and I think we all knew the new paintjob would just be a reverse of the recent colors.

I think they listened to TT and the deep, collective yearning for a minimalist, sinister Darth Vader staff with which to smite the pimply and insolent rebel forces laying siege to a once mighty empire. The nerds have spoken and their will is made tangible. Beware...

Yeah, a couple of years ago, when Fed was experimenting with the different prototypes (which were black frames bc: prototypes), I think there were a ton of requests for an all black frame. I think a few have even tried sanding, stripping, and refinishing their own rackets to emulate it. I'm ready to see the "tuxedo" finish in person. Also, Wilson could have capitalized on the trend long ago and issued an all white frame for Wimbledon, which could have been cool too.

Hmm... my stiffness rating just went off the scale.
Lube is always near by...your next Fed match...

If 2017 is Fed's retirement year, I say just wear all black to each tour event, wielding that all black weapon. Pretentious? Maybe a little bit. Fine, make it all white.

Is this racket going to be made available in the Pro Staff 97 model too? Or is it only the Autograph, LS, and ULS?

You still won't achieve what fed is likely using. I did my best using a chinese ps97 to nail his known specs of 355sw, ~32.X cm and 364 grams, and even then it was an uphill battle. They place weight in different locations (some of which you can't remove at all) for retail than for fed I'm willing to bet. Just like you could never get his 90's to his known match spec (see fab fed's posts, and art art's posts), you aren't going to get the rf97a to his spec without irreversible modification. Beyond that you'll likely have a higher polar moment of inertia than what Fed uses.

I did a video about my racquet, posted it in the racquets section if anyone is interested.

So is this "velvet" finish the same grippy crap they put on the Dunlop Hotmelt and Prince Triple Threat series? If so it grabs dust and dirt and ages very poorly.

apart from composition (all graphite) I don't see any changes in spec.

sorry not a fan of all black...as if someone sold you unfinished product..

Composition is a strange thing. The first RF on wilsons page says braided graphite, on TWE it is listed Braided Graphite/Basalt, on TW Braided Kevlar & Graphite / Basalt Fibers.

Everything is great except for Fed's face in the inner throat. That's gonna haunt me whenever that side end up looking upwards while I take a swing.

In his video from Wilson posted on FB, Federer mentions something about a new special elastic paint?? Maybe it helps prevent chipping?

The racquet bounces better when you throw it on to the ground in anger. Not sure about chips prevention.

They should make this frame in graphite with paint that makes it look like wood, they've done it before...

They should make a RF107A for him so he doesnt shank anymore backhands

still waiting for the gold edition RF97G with 58 RA flex rating

Problem with pro staffs is that they are designed to have a high flex. Low flex on pro staffs makes for a very unpleasant experience.

[QUOTE="Arti, post: 10577156, member: 745from personal experience the less these racquets flex the less classic and solid they feel. On head racquets the low flex feels a lot better.[/QUOTE]
Agree, I have the same feeling from mine experience
