Great acquisition!
So, what is the flex of it??
Fed’s true ready to play weight and balance figures for the rf97 are unknown. Many have guessed. If you could weigh the racquet and measure the balance point that would be awesome! And it would finally give some diehard fans true peace.... :)
Pls measure weight, SW, balance
Happy to measure the weight of the racquet, just need some scales.

The other stuff like flex, SW, etc, I'm not knowledgable enough about racquets to get these details. I just hit with friends at my local tennis club, I don't even know the specs of my own racquet!

@Rhino Local tennis shops will often have access to an RDC or swingweight machine, which is what you're looking for. They'll measure it for you if you bring it in.

Probably at the time of purchase, he had to sign a statement: specs top secret. Wilson does not want that we learn that Fed does not play with a retail racket (e.g. the layup is not the same), because then there would be no more hype around the racket and sales would fall.

Real question here, how much did you pay for it?
^^^ How did you acquire such an item? Also would you ever consider giving it a a swing?

I'm actually more of a Federer shoes collector. I got this racquet as part of a package deal from a serious Federer collector who used to post on these boards called "Fabfed". If you check his previous posts you can see some of his other Federer racquets and gear. He's had six or seven Federer personal racquets over the years including a couple of K90's and BLX90's. This was the only RF97 racquet he ever got.

I will never play tennis with it though! I may even sell it to get more shoes (I'm a hopeless shoe addict). :)

Still begs the question, how much do one of these RF used frames run for? I've seen one on prostocktennis for $20K+

OOOh that's awesome man. I've been trying to get my hands on a set of federers custom shoes. Any chance you're selling a pair or could point me into the right direction where I could acquire a pair?

You can check balance with a yard stick and the edge of a table. Put the 0 end by the edge and then balance the head half of the racquet off the end of the table until the end of the grip just barely balances on the table. Look at the end of the grip and compare it to the centimeter markings on the yard stick.

Personally, I use a soft tape measure and tape it down to the table. It’s flat enough where I can balance a racquet directly on the tape measure itself.

We have the info on the weight and balance...
We need the flex (and swing weight).
Most of tennis stores and clubs should have the RDC and would measure for free

Come on Rhino, we need that flex measured man! Send it to me, I'll measure it for you free of charge! ;-)

I'm a busy guy! If I get a chance I'll take it to a pro shop to get the info. In the mean time I might list it on the big auction site, so hopefully it goes to a die-hard racquet fan who can dissect it and answer all your questions better than I can.

haha just do your TTW forum brothers and sisters the good deed and get those digits before you list it. There is a guy from Singapore off-loading his Fed blx 90 for only $16k USD !!

There is a guy on **** selling for $30k+ so, $16k is not that bad...

The amazing part is the guy is selling the Hyper Pro Staff cosmetic for 35k, and there is nothing to indicate that Federer had anything to do with that frame. Wilson made that frame for several players, not only Federer. I’m intrigued by the use of a P1 bag in the picture. When Federer used that particular cosmetic, Priority One wasn’t working with him. I’m also not a fan of the seller lifting photos off the Priority One Twitter feed, and using them in his auction page.

I trust P1 already asked him to to take them down? Such scammers shouldn't be given any chance to do what they do.

Interesting details Ron.
Thanks for jumping in.
I am not that familiar with Roger particular frame details...

I called around a few pro shops in the city where I live and nobody seems to have this 'flex test machine' you speak of.

@Bobby Jr If you hear of anywhere else, let me know. (y)

Fedr taunting us on these forums. Surely someone can get this good man an rdc machine

Thanks for sharing. I would ask for an RDC, or racket diagnostic centre, buddy. They may not recognize a “flex test machine”. Though they should know what you mean. It’s very hard to find a pro shop in the UK that has one, in my experience. Hopefully they’re more common where you are.

If everyone chips in for a flight for @Rhino to come to Atlanta we could find out the specs! I’ll contribute room and board at my house!

YES! I love this idea. :)
Just wish to extend a big thank you to you for sharing the weight of your rf97. Any progress on flex or balance ?
Also, I wish to know how do you preserve those shoes so well over all these years ? Are they made of some special material ?

Rhino

Hi there. Thanks. I take great care of the shoes, but they are made out of just the regular materials; rubber/synthetic leather etc. Keeping old shoes in good condition is not that easy and requires a bit of an effort.
