Frances Tiafoe revealed that Roger Federer told him he was ‘going to have one hell of a future’ after the pair enjoyed a fabulous match at the US Open.

At the conclusion of their fascinating encounter, Federer embraced Tiafoe at the net and offered him some words of wisdom and the 19-year-old revealed exactly what the 19-time major winner said to him.

‘[Federer said:]”Great year so far,”‘ Tiafoe said. ‘”You’re only getting better and better. Keep going, you’re going to have one hell of a future.”

I actually think it's so cool that he really cares about tennis and about the tour. He is a great example and a gold standard that young players and his peers alike can look up to.

He carries the tour, and he does so gracefully and with more genuineness and humility than we deserve.

Nice words from Fed.

Interesting how he says that Tiafoe has had a great year and is "only getting better".
He must really keep an eye on the other players. :)

How arrogant of him. :D

Or, Fed could just be comparing his match with Tiafoe in March to his match with him tonight. Fed won in straight sets in March in Key Biscayne....he went 5 sets with him tonight. So obviously Fed feels that Tiafoe is getting better. Makes sense, doesn't it?

I think Fed may have made another fan of his today.
I wish Tiafoe the best also. Possibly what American tennis has been waiting for.

fed please retire after the end of year, your back problems will get worse if you keep playing
Could you give me a diagnosis on a knee problem I have please. Seems you can do this without examination. Beforehand though, could you let me know where you studied medicine? Ta.

Fed really embraces the younger generation. He remembers what it was like

I think it's more because the lost generation has been a yuuuge disappointment.

Fed can retire from tennis and pass the torch on to the next generation of stars like Zed, Shap, Foe that aren't in the line and grind mold of Mugg and Nole.

It also helps if those guys make a big next step, he doesn't have to hold off Nole and Nadal by himself. They can just upset them instead. :)
