Fellow bull fans. What would you rather?

If only one of these options could happen before Rafa ends career....

  • 1 ) WTF 22, YE#1, RG 23 + H2H lead over Novak

  • 2) AO or Wimbledon 23 ( Not both, sorry ).

I know we would all like Nadal to go on forever winning big titles. But if you could only choose 1 of these options, what would it be , to finish his career?

1 ) To win the WTF, beating Djokovic there ( on a HC obviously ), finish YE#1 again, and then go on to win RG 23 for a final time, with another win over Djokovic, to overtake him in the H2H ( where it stays that way and they never play again ).

or

2) To win nothing else this year, then defend the AO/ win Wimbledon 23, and never win another slam again ?

What ranks higher on your list?

Obviously all of these options are very good for his career, but what would mean more overall ?

The only thing that makes it debatable is in option 1 you don’t seem to specify that Rafa can’t go on to win more slams other than RG 23, just not more RGs.

Even so, with two guaranteed slams over one, option 2 is the obvious choice this late in his career. Not to mention, he’d be winning Novak’s two favorite slams and more likely to detract from Novak’s win column.

That said, the odds of either are pretty slim.

It’s a win-win situation but I give option 2 the nod. Schlems are by far the most important metric in tennis.

Where's your poll ?

Option 2 definitely. Rafa has nothing left to prove at Roland Garros and adding another A.O and Wimbledon title would, on top of just the slam count, prove him to be an even more complete player. Also A.O would be sweet sweet revenge for 2019

100% option 2 triple career slam

As someone who has taken left hooks, uppercuts, and stiff jabs from both Bull Fans and Joker fans a 3rd Wimbledon title for Nadal will mean more than anything since it would mean 3 slams or more at each surface. It was sad that there was no Outdoor Wimbledon Final between Nadal-Djokovic this year.

I think a 3rd FO would also be the biggest win for Djokovic for the same reason cited above.

As for the H2H I don't think +1 or +2 in either direction is going to be a major change in the trajectory in career accomplishments. I think the Final Slam count is going to be the biggest bragging rights. This is why AO 2023 will be quite interesting. Will Djokovic win #10 or will a young lion as FAA break through?

Going against the tide here and picking option one. Winning the Tour Finals after all these years would be really special, and his Roland Garros journey never gets old.

Another reason for not going for option two is because I am fully behind Novak returning to and reclaiming Australia.

24 Majors, another gold medal in singles and just then the Bull will be able to say Adieu.

Nadal is obsessed with the Olympics (and 2024 will mean more to him than any other Olympics, because its at Roland Garros), so no chance of his career ending in 2023....

Paris 2024 and even better, Roland Garros 2025 would be the only two possible scenarios for the legendary Spanish southpaw to retire.
