Female version of Nadal?

Many people regard Justine Henin as the female Federer, just wondering if there are any female players that are considered the female version of Nadal.

maybe caroline wozniacki because like nadal, she is better known for her defensive skill than her offensive skill.

First off you'd need a lefty. Second, you need lots of topspin. Nope, no female Nadal. But for a close facsimile you've got Nando.

i'd say wozniacki though look below.
Nadal: Natural Righty Plays Lefty.
Sharapova: Natural Lefty Plays Righty.
Co-incidence?

ironically she uses the same racquet as nadal (not sure if its the actual apd paintjob rafa uses though)

Right now, there is no female version of Rafa. Not at the top at least. In the past, Gabriela Sabatini for the heavy, aggressive topspin and the physical impact, Conchita Martinez for the topspin and the wearing effect, Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario for the fighting spirit and the will. A mix of those 3.

If she made less errors I'd day Kuznetsova, her top spin FH can be deadly on clay, her BH looks pretty similar also, she also is one of the best movers on clay in the WTA

Patty Schnyder (ironically she is Swiss). Lefty, heavy topspin, and she is fugly just like Nadal.

Yep, I was just about to say Patty Schnyder. Though without that last justification.

She's a lefty, plays a heavy topspin forehand and a flat backhand, is good on clay. She's not as good as Nadal, though, and she relies on being crafty and mixing up spins a lot more than Nadal does.

I'd go for Jankovic. She plays tatically and can wear down strong opponents at points in a match, but she can play strong and powerful shots every now and again. Problem is she isn't as consistent as Nadal.

In terms of dirt balling and topspin, the closest, and these are not even that close, that I can think of would be maybe Schiavone or Medina Garrigues. Wozniacki and Jankovic are possible to, but no women has the whole package or close to it. Justine sort of does in comparison to Fed, but there is really no true Female Nadal.

Sanchez Vicario was the female Nadal except for a MUCH weaker female version of the Nadal forehand. If she had a female equivalent of the Nadal forehand she would have won many more slams, even with Graf and Seles to compete against.

Historically she is definitely the closest to a female Nadal. Her Forehand and her return are slightly below par in terms of equivalency but she is way closer to being a female Nadal then any of the women on the tour today

Wozniacki isnt even good enough to be the female Murray. Maybe the female Simon. Then again even that seems harsh to Simon as he can atleast hit some winners.

surprised no one mentioned Samantha Stosur

Probably since it doesnt make much sense to call a women who has tied Venus and Serena's WR service speed record (well the press record as Schultz really has the record), who is one of the best doubles players in the World, who comes to net alot, who hits low hard inconsistent shots from the baseline, and who is known as a bit of a mental flake and not that good a mover along the baseline, as the female Nadal.

Serena Williams for sure,

No insult intended to Nadal fans.

serena doesn't play defensively though.
she's more like federer with her ability to hit winners at will.

someone at espn2 said serena williams served even faster than nadal :)

Faster than Nadal? Was that guy smoking crack? Nadal's serve isn't that big of a liability. She can maybe serve a better 2nd serve than someone like Murray but not even close to Nadal

Nadal's fastest ever serves have been mid 130s. Serena has never even reached 130. His average 1st serve mph is higher than hers too I am sure.

wow. it looks like prior to 2008, on a good day, serena could serve faster than nadal.
their average first serve speeds were about the same.

I used to think Clijsters played a lot like nadal, in the sense that she'd run every ball and get them back into the court, even if she had to do half a split to get one back in.

And she was quite good at going from defense to offense, like Nadal.

Of course, there are difference sin their game, but I thought that was something they shared.
