Murray Wins The French Open !!!!
What's with all the Ferrero hype? The guy is good and is having some good results, but picking to beat the likes of Nadal and Fed on clay is laughable at this stage of his career.
Quarters (though no way to tell about where they'll be)
Federer def Cilic 7-5 6-2 6-4
Davydenko def Soderling 6-2 7-6 (7) 5-7 4-6 6-3
Ferrero def Nadal 6-4 6-4 6-7 (6) 6-4
Gonzalez def del Potro 6-4 7-6 (5) 2-6 6-7 (1) 6-4
Davydenko def Federer 6-1 6-4 5-7 6-3
Ferrero def Gonzalez 5-7 6-4 6-4 6-7 (5) 6-4
Davydenko def Ferrero 6-4 5-7 7-6 (4) 6-4
Would you mind posting the scores for the entire tournament. I really curious to see how you think all 128 men will fair in a draw that won't exist for more then 2 months.

you got it whos your pick?usd 100k? u up for it?
So what are these numbers based on. I just can't believe the hype that Ferrero is getting. Davy had hype but at least he won THE YEAR END MASTERS and beat Nadal and Fed twice in a row. However lets take a realistic approach to this wonderful draw of yours.
#1. When is everyone going to wake up and smell the coffee? Hell even Soderling knows it. Clay is not his strong surface. HE IS 49-41 on the surface. He had one really good win on the surface. But please he is not the next CLAY GOAT. Nadal had an off day Soderling won. Yes Soderling played amazing, and no it is no excuse for Nadal. I heavily doubt the injury was as bad as it seemed but him pulling out of wimbledon confirms it but Soderling was on a run. He was not playing great clay court tennis. He got beat 6-1, 6-0 by Nadal a week before. He has one title on the surface..Bastad. If he proves me wrong so be it but there is no way in hell Soderling is winning a French Open anytime soon. I feel safe betting on that.
#2 The spring European Clay Court Season >>>>>>>>>>>> South American Swing. Tons of great French Open champs in their primes never really showed up there, Nadal, Ferrero himself. Sure it is relatively new over the past 10 years but only in 2 years did the actual French Open champ win a tournament there and most years did not even show up. Especially over the previous few. Have Almagro, Robredo, Monaco, Ferrer been making huge dents in France. I don't think so. Have they done much in Europe? Nope. Robredo got his gift when Fed and Nadal skipped Hamburg in 06. Lets see how Ferrero does in Europe before we hand him a French Open. The field will be deep then.
#3 Murray is greatly underrated on clay. Murray doesn't play much on clay yes. However lets look at how he did. He has better results in the master series over the past few years than most "clay court specalists" He has beaten Davydenko, Robredo, Cilic on the surface. Hes not great but he is not the worse thing ever. Once again lets him judge him this year. He aint winning France either for that matter his chances are probably lower than Soderlings but he could easily get to the quarters again and could make a run like Soderling.
#4 Nadal is not done. He's not. He lost on hardcourts at the Aussie. Okay? He lost in the masters? Okay. He was injuried. Okay. However before the NADAL IS THE BEST THING EVER HYPE. Him going out in the quarters of a hardcourt slam well that was not unusual. Nadal has always been strong in masters on hardcourts, most say cause its best of 3 less wear and tear. However Nadal still made all 3 clay court masters finals last year and is still in the top in the world. He is not about ready to roll over and die. He looked pretty sharp against Berdych in the DCup finals after a rough first set. Again though..I am taking Nadal over Ferrero.
Kill the hype machine let Ferrero produce. If he loses to Ferrer tonight does this mean Ferrer is going to make the French Open finals as well?
....
@Point #1: Soderling did beat more than Nadal last year (Ferrer, Verdasco, Gonzalez, Davydenko) all solid top 10-top 15 players on clay, and backed that up w/ a title on clay. He's probably not going to win RG, but it's not overrating or overstating to say he should be a QFist this year. Just b/c Nadal wasn't healthy doesn't devalue what he was able to do, beating those other guys as well as Nadal.
djokovicgonzalez said:I think with a good draw Ferrero could go very deep on clay.
how much dude? equipment? frames?
you name it
deal mate and yes I pick Nadal..20 Canadian Dollars! Through Paypal! Wherver you are you can use your currency and change it to canadian and If you want I will change my 20 canadian to ure curency!
I pick Federer for the FO and U? If u pick Nadal and he does not win the FO and Federer doesn't win the FO.. It a draw and nothing has to be [payed)
I pick Nadal to win everything on clay BEFORE the FO. Then he's gonna fold like he did last year. I'll predict in the QF's vs Davy.
Davy OR Djokovic to win the FO.
How are you so sure? I find it strange that Davydenko is one of your alternatives to Nadal, he folds pretty much whenever he gets a shot at a slam. AO 2010 shoulda taught you something.
Gonna be Nadal, Federer, Monfils, and Ferrero in the semis. I don't know who will be playing who but that is what it will be.
