*Going from cheap synthetics to multis:

Believe it or not, I've been using cheap $3-5 synthetics all my life which might be a surprise to many of you. So this jump to $9-12 synthetics like Laserfibre Supreme, Yonex Tour, etc. is a huge one and I'll probably be shocked at the increased performance, it'll probably be like night and day.

And to think I strung all these fine Yonex/Wilson/Head rackets with the cheap synthetics all this time, it's probably a crime by the standards of some of the people on this forum.

Anyway, I'm really excited about this whole area of stringing and plan on re-stringing most of my rackets with multis. I don't plan on going so far as "proportional stringing" or using hybrids.

ferrari 827, you may feel a big difference, but don't be too disappointed if you don't. The best player I string for, who is a 5.0 player, uses a PS 6.0 85 or Yonex RD TI 70 88 with Prince SGD in it and won't use anything else. He doesn't think it's worth the extra money. You picked some good ones to try though. The Laser Supreme and Yonex Tour Super 850 are highly rated on here.

I am a solid 5.0 college player and the only string I like more than Klipper Syn. Gut is Natural Gut. But idk if gut is worth the 25 bucks, however Syn gut is a solid performer for the price and overall. What is wrong with syn. gut?

I really like the LF Supreme. The Yonex strings I've tried all felt too soft, and had a vague feel. If you like it really soft though, you might like it.

gaines, i am kind of from the same school as that guy you mention with a twist. i use gut, and since i've been using gut, i feel such a huge drop off going to synthetics that expensive multi's dont feel and perform <to me> any better than prince duraflex. so i have duraflex in my bad weather axe, and gut hybrid in the rest. i think the performence bump going to an expensive multi is pretty minour after seeing a big bump by going to gut relatively speaking. my .o2

Yonex strings do have that "vague feel".
But it's very good feel to me. Jerry Seinfeld described it as
"luxury feel" or something. They have this milky cushion to them.
Although they are soft, they are firmer or more crisp than many
multis of Gamma, Technifibre, Babolat and Wilson, IMHO.

LF Supreme is my string of choice too. I feel like it's a nearly
idealistic multi. I did lower 2 lbs than my usual tension as people
in this board recommended....

My history is mono -> self stringing -> poly -> double wrap mono's
-> multi's and there is no going back. Maybe will try gut when I get
older !!

Laserfibre Supreme 17 has been my latest favorite string. Crisp feel but very good with control and pop. I tried Yonex 850 Tour 16g and did not really think that it was too soft. On the contrary, it was relatively crisp feeling (but I had the frame strung pretty tight.) I tried Prince Duraflex but it did nothing for me. Didn't feel very lively and lost tension pretty quickly. Maybe I got a bum set of strings. I guess if you hybrid it, you may minimize the problem.
