Good videos

Could this be a thread on videos only? Anything that you like, interesting, want to share with others. I come across so many that I think others will be interested to see as well.

Will start with this one. Very good match and camera angle.

Started waching in 0.25 speed. The guy in the red cap - man I wish I had his forehand. It reminds me of Nishikori. Great spin / depth / penetration combo. The guy with the black / pink shirt... wow his cheer squad (that one dude) was really into it lol

Two scrappy players at a time when Nishioka was ranked in the 200's and was still playing the futures circuit for some reason instead of challengers. Love this angle, I've watched this match a couple times now.

Crosscourt all the way.:)

You have to pose another threat. Id say if your crosscourts are deep a bad drop shot up the line would be better than a bad up the line that goes to them.

Up the line is the most difficult shot, if your open early it curves to the middle, late is wide. Left, right and deep, plenty of ways to lose. But with short, the left/right/depth doesnt matter, puts the emphasis of your cc fh as your skilled weapon.

Up the line deep is still better though, if you can hit it off an angle. Its a huge threat, they have to respect with their reset point. Makes them over cover, opening up hitting behind. Then they do like video, and you pop it up the line (or drop) because of the reset pt.

Totally agree. I realised some time ago that that is the single best thing that I should focus on building to improve my game.

When you really realize it, it really does boil down to your movement. I think some if not most take for granted our lower body since its so automatic and having to focus on it seems like we are re-learning something we already know how to do. Strong legs can be hereditary some just know how to move well and if you are not naturally strong, you only have to be strong for that sport and anything more can be unnecessary.

This guy proves that it's possible to be both fat and play good tennis.

Sad 4.5s. Big guy looks like he may have history of playing sports then let it all go and the Asian guy is slow for his physique. I think these guys are 4.0s.

I love how you get a feel for the pace of the shots on this video

Think about swinging out as freely as possible with every bit of your weight going into your shots and that is how the pros hit all the while floating around the court.

Guy looks bit faster in this video but he runs kinda like he is on ice, slipping and sliding especially running to dropshots, no explosive steps.

White shirt must have been a high level player that stopped playing for a while. Impressive that shirtless got a couple games.

Certainly it could help or have weaker upper body versus stronger lower body.. OR just have really really strong lower body.
I think it helps to be small to change direction easily. But if youre tall and skinny you can ve fast (Zverev) - the reach also helps. Some guys are just athletic though no matter there height. Guys ib the NBA are often 6"4 but with the agility of a 5"10 guy. Some guys are tall and awkward tho and they just gotta focus on serving and big forehands (Anderson, dr. Ivo, querry)

Yeah, natural athletes are just natural and as the word suggests, it should be natural (to all). Have a look at video I posted in my previous post and their channel, all the guys move very similar in almost all the videos and it looks very natural. Some of those guys are born that way and I assume others worked for it whether being more explosive or smoother/more efficient.

Really tall guys unfortunately will look a bit awkward cause they are already a bit odd or unique with their height. Some just have their own habits that work for them. Being small and compact has advantages but you just gotta make do with what you got and you can work on things to a certain extent of course but its not always you are at mercy of your genes.

I like how the orange guy moves. Always in athletic stance with deep knee bend. Great example. Look at the calves, no wonder.

I think it is as simple as that, just maintain your athletic wide base in the 'horse' stance and move from there. Split stepping as opponent hits the ball so you are already ready to move once you land in either direction. From that athletic stance like you mentioned, you can make minor little foot adjustments or shuffle forward/backward etc. If you watch Federer move, he always tries to maintain that base and everything else happens from there.

The other thread on someone seeking advice on their fh made me post this one. The guy in the green shirt has a really huge takeback and finish too. If he just posted his forehand video, most of us would think it's terrible. However, in actual gameplay you can see that the guy is hitting it cleanly and with tremendous control too. Find your own style than emulate someone.

Watch it from the 2:30 mark. Some meaningless stuff at the beginning:

I think calves are very genetic. Look at zverev he's a bean stalk but he has great movement. Probably conditioing is more important, and that doesn't necessarily equate to muscular legs

Funny you mention Zverev. I was watching him play about a month ago and I noticed his thighs were much more muscular than before and I did a google search 'zverev and leg muscles' hoping to find something and I actuall found exactly what I was looking for. An interview where he was talking about how much he had been working on strengthening his legs saying ' thats where you need power, you don't really need a powerful upper body. I must add though I didn't notice any bulking in his calves!:)

Ah yes true. A few good exercises 'the diagonal stretch' and holding 'horse stance' for time.
Diagonal stretch seems really injury proofing too

Becker v Bahrami 1988

Found this an entertaining, if not one sided affair. I clipped some of the best points for your viewing pleasure.

I sometimes forget that Bahrami, before becoming the trick shot artist we all know, honed his skills on the ATP. Here he was clearly overmatched but managed to get some licks in.

Question: How many times do you see two tweeners in one point? And of these how many times does the tweener-maker win the point. Answer: 1

L8JMDv.gif

I like to call this one the BLABB (BLatent Attack By Bahrami). Becker hesitates when he sees where Bahrami is standing. This cost him the point.

And again Becker is totally unprepared.

Finally Becker recovers.

@ChaelAZ made it from my slowmo backhand vid. Hysterical

In 1972, a crack commando was sent to prison by a military court for a crime he didn't commit. This man promptly escaped from a maximum-security stockade to the Los Angeles public tennis courts. Today, still wanted by the government, he survives shrouded in a hoodie and track pants. Does this man sweat? Nobody knows. If you have a problem with your high OHBH... if no one else can help... and if you can find him... maybe you can hire... Shroud.

God that second video. I think the other guy should have won. How much pressure did they put on him? And complaining like crazy about that line call lol. I don't know, you couldn't really see it. But it would have been close. And the second one they complained about LOL that was for sure long.

The other guy had way better groundies. Dunno how they even made it to a tie break.

The guy who won had massive choking on his forehand. It just became a bunt... he did unleash the serve though.

Odd serve tho. Knees bent toward the camera (with front foot angled away from the baseline). Elbow drops way too much for trophy (tucks int the body).

Here is another video for lag enthusiasts.:) It's just hilarious that the student gets zero lag at the end of the practice and the coach admits that.

I found a video of @Shroud being baptised and diving into the world of sureshian tennis:
