Apparently it's not just the forehand, there's also a WTA 2hbh. Why doesn't anyone talk about it?
How she times that giant behind the back continuous loop with zero racket flip on both sides is amazing!

goat 2hb. He is just hitting some random 2bh here that I assume he does not practice seriously but you can see the potential.

What could Fed have achieved if he switched to a 2hb like me?
If Federer had a 2-hander for real it would not surprisingly be the most stylish 2-hander ever. He just can’t make an ugly tennis stroke.

Wouldn’t his bh look prettier if he had a better/deeper racket drop? Wouldn’t his serve look prettier if he didn’t open his racket face from the trophy down and his ESR was more?

Great video. Nice and simple but very important useful drills.
It’s well over due but you’re finally focusing on movement, after putting on 20kg! Weird!
Nah just after losing an intense match to the junior but NOT due to technique realised the importance of footwork (as he moved me side to side) and also wishing I had the footwork of Venus yesterday while watching this. I know the first step to attaining this footwork is to lose weight. So more motivation to lose weight.

Yeah my opponent today told me "you move pretty well for a big guy" which (while true) was quite a wakeup call about needing to get serious there. Looking back on it now there was at least one point per game where I really suffered with a bad hit or just plain missing because I didn't quite get to things like I should have. Maybe I have to revise my prediction of faring well against MEP to provisional.

How tall are you?

Why does height matter?

Ah so big guy as in heavy? What your weight?

Oh sorry I see what you were thinking now. Yeah he was saying it to be polite, like a gentle euphemism about how I looked. I dispensed with the need to dance around it by responding "yeah I was fast when I wasn't fat" lol. I haven't weighed recently tbh but it was ~100 kilos the last time I checked. I do have a fair bit of muscle so healthy weight is probably 12-15 less.

I hadn't even heard of this player. How come she's so comfortable with her one hander? Immediate ball recognition and fast set up seems to be the main factor. I can maybe do the same only if the ball comes in slow motion!

Henin with her marvelous one-handed backhand (and fh), close up view, at a practice session observed by her coach
during one of her last years on tour.

Some of the shots big man is hitting in this video are quite hilariously flat and powerful. Annihilating the ball:

8:38 forehand
11:35 backhand
12:33 forehand
14:52 backhand

Fun to see this kind of hitting.

I was half expecting a video of POMO.

Sending skills vs receiving skills.

We’re so impressed by how clean Karue’s strokes (sending skills ) are that we don’t pay enough attention to his receiving skills.

Well, yes in a way. Racket face perpendicular to the ground at contact + low to high racket head swing path through contact. That’s all you need to do.
There are better ways to do things (look at Djokovic) but given your struggles, simplifying it is the way to go.

True. Having no great movement, balance, hand eye coordination, the simplest, most repeatable the better.
That's why tennis is beautiful. And also why the days your coordination is off you end up just beating yourself and demoralized.

It’s an exciting process regardless. The reason why we keep coming back to play over and over again.
Anyway I like to play a match against you: Me using McEnroe style only with pendulum swings and eastern grips on both sides (will be going back the the 1hb for this match) VS You whatever style suits.

Maybe in the coming weeks.

Tennis is not just about accuracy. It’s also about physicality, mainly about physicality actually given the size of the court.
Agree. It was about the overrated skill of pros’ placement accuracy. Of course they’re great at hitting bigger targets.
