Head Composite Director

Anyone have specs on this racquet? I just bought 2 in really nice condition for 10 bucks. They are currently en route.

I own a vintage Head Graphite Director. Does the Composite Director have basically the same specs?

From my experiences with the Graphite Edge and Composite Edge, the Composite is more flexible.
In fact, the Composite Edge was a racquet I could never truly appreciate. Although I owned two of them, and I liked flexibility, the Composite Edge to me just seemed too 'wimpy'. I recall thinking that it felt like a plastic racquet.
The Graphite Edge was 'stiff' for it's time period - but would be considered flexible today.

The Composite and Graphite Directors are, of course, from the same time period as the Composite and Graphite Edges (mid 1980s).

Perhaps one of our in house Head Graphite racquet experts, like RossK knows about this particular racquet.

I'll just pip in here and say I own a Graphite Edge & Composite Edge. I hit with them every week end as a warm up and think they are the best racquets I have ever swung. Both are going to need new grommets by spring so I am going to try to piece something together. Right now, I am thinking about ordering a set of Grommets from a POG 90 and cutting them apart.

It sounds like you need a Composite Director to round out your collection - $30 shipped... j/k LOL!

Wow, I have one too - a Composite Director - that I bought back in '83 or '84. Rarely played with it. Would like to know the specs too if someone finds them. Maybe I'll jet get it strung up and see how she hits.

That's it!

Yepper, that's the stick. Is the headsize on it the same as the Graphite Director (102 sq. in.)?

Is it grey or mauve?

Thanks for posting the pic, BTW.

same as the Graphite Director? I don't know.....

I have always thought it was grey - but now that you ask, it is kind of a brownish grey more that a blackish grey.

Just glad they ain't pink!

The color you describe sounds like Taupe (pronounced tope) :-D

The pictures of the two I purchased looked like a dusty rose or mauve color on-line (I even checked into the possibility of it being a feminine version of the stick).

I'm glad it was poor camera color as opposed to the 'real' racquet color. I would still have bought them both for 10 dollars regardless of the fact they may have been pink :p I can't pass up a great deal on vintage Head graphite racquets.

Is the color on yours similar to the Composite Edge color? My Composite Edge looks kinda like the color you describe (and in your picture). Sometimes, though, it's hard for me to ID color from pics since I'm color blind :)

It does look like it is from the same mold as the original Graphite Director.

Bud - even though I am a "bubba", I know what taupe is! Yes, it is close to a taupe. As I said, brownish-gray which does have a pinkish tint. However, this is getting way too...well.....can we just talk about how the damn rackets hit! I am starting to feel like an interior decorator!

Gotta go chop some wood and drink a six of Old Milwaukee now....
