Is there much difference between the turquoise US version and the euro black Graphite Pro ??

If he doesn't reply here, I suggest e-mailing VSBabolat. He is a super nice guy, and heck of a player (but not as cute as the girl in his avatar)

Yeah there is a difference. The U.S. Turquoise version has ceramic in the layup and has a white replaceable bumper guard. While the Euro Black Graphite Pro is only a layup of Graphite and Fiberglass with a molded-in head guard (bumper-less)

Playing as much as I can afford to, and putting in a lot of gym work. If I can't be talented I might as well be in shape.

Let me know if you are in town, but I can't see any reason you would leave sunny FL.

Thanks VS and jo11y...

Im getting cap grommets for it, Ive read thro this thread and the LM and MG prestige mid CAPs fit this racket, yes?
Also VS does the ceramic add or take away much from its playability compared to the black euro GP? It seems on here there is more fuss made of the EU racket?

I have the CAP grommets for my Graphite Master (102 head, turqois). I am going to get these things installed and see how it hits.

Sorry for bumping up this ancient thread.

I was inspired by Bud's CAPped Graphite Pro and tried to do the same thing last night. I used the same CAP grommets (MG Prestige Mid) on the same green USA version Graphite Pro. However, I couldn't get the last several grommets in place near the top. The grommets seemed too short and couldn't go all the way through the holes. Is there any special tool I need or am I missing some tricks? Thanks.

They can be tricky near the top... however, they should pop right into place. Make sure to use a dull-tipped awl to wiggle them through both frame holes. It also helps to use a zip tie to hold the grommet strip in place while waiting to string the frame. Otherwise, they'll pop out of the frame holes.

I recently found one of these lovely rackets at a local thrift shop. Not surprisingly, the grommets are quite literally disintegrating when touched. Does anyone know where I might find a replacement grommet set for this frame? TIA!

@Bud Bumping...like the OP, I have removed the grommets from this frame. Is there a current grommet set that fits this racket? Also, how in hell to get the rattling grommet fragments out of the frame? TIA

You have to shake those particles out. They will eventually pass through the holes. Grommets you want are IG Prestige Mid grommets and trim them. I did that on mine. If you want I can post up a photo.

i have a few pieces left - there are two pieces of foam in the handle which prevents the fragments from coming out. not a huge deal - i have ordered the replacement grommet set from TW but will have to wait until it arrives. maybe i can get the crap out between now and then. thanks for the suggestions!

btw, what type of string would you recommend for this frame? I imagine I will need to do some customizing but look forward to hitting with this racket. my current racket is the Wilson Pro Staff 100 (2012-13 versions) weighted to 357g with 5" of 1/4" lead tape (x2) at 3, 9, 12 (7.5g total for the 3 locations) plus +/- 64g of tungsten putty in the butt cap. I have become a poly 'addict' since getting my stringing machine - playing with a variety including hyper-g 20g/rpm blast/alu power/volkl cyclone. I like all of them.

String it 2 pieces with the crosses starting at the head. It’s only 56RA strung. String with some nice natural gut.

Would the Head Graphene 360+ Prestige MID (2020) Grommet possibly fit too? Here at TW Europe they are the only Prestige Mid grommets available...

still drunk but strung the racket with Wilson Sensation 17. it hit wonderfully yesterday. the cap grommets are a pain in the ass to get the strings through though. but thrilled to have a grommet set that works with the frame!

had a hit today with the Graphite Pro. What a wonderful racket! I strung with Wilson Sensation 17 at 60 lbs after adding the cap grommet set. it has finally dawned on me that this is the predecessor to the Prestige line. in stock form the racket weighs 12.1 oz strung and hits like a dream. Power comes easily and with the 18x20 string pattern, control is there as well. For a racket that I bought as an afterthought at a thrift store, this is one that I will keep indefinitely.

The TXP/Prestige Pro and the Graphite Pro both started out in 1986

I tried adding CAP grommets to mine when the old grommets flaked out. Ended up with swing weight > 360, which is too much for my skill level. I trimmed the grommets to only retain the part that goes in the channel, and it was more manageable, but still with a SW ~ 340 I think. Wonderful feel, but definitely for the advanced player given the soft flex and the SW. A little beyond my skill level, unfortunately!

Hi. Sorry for bumping old post. Just wanted to check if Youtek IG Prestige Mid grommets would possibly fit? I have lately acquired European version of Graphite Pro with orginal black grommets. Thank you. Stanislav

They should. You will have to warm them up and work them in.
