NC is the first state I ever visited (just overnight) that still had “dry” counties back in the 70s. The motel manager told me I would have to drive a few miles to get a beer but I just put up with it and went to sleep.

To tell you a secret, I briefly attended high school in Charlotte and was amazed at the time of the complicated cross-border alcohol-smuggling schemes that my non-muscovite peers engaged in around here late at night on weekends.

I was peripherally involved with alcohol smuggling from a duty-free shop cruising international waters. I met guys from the punk band MDC on a Silja ship traveling from Helsinki to Stockholm. One of the guys was stealing bottles of hard alcohol from the shop. They were on tour and had taken LSD a few hours earlier. The lead singer was in his cabin tripping.

Coca Cola is the only soda I drink.
Going to do some teeth bleaching (all that wine... :sneaky:), so I'll do soda instead of wine for some days.
Been thinking to start drinking red wine with a straw to keep the teeth super white. I already drink take away coffee w a straw for that reason. Great for keeping the lipstick in place, and teeth white.

@SoBad must read list should include the Errol Flynn autobiography My Wicked Wicked Ways, in which the very colorful actor explains his endorsement contract for Smirnoff was paid in product and his daily dosage of it usually averaged 2 fifths before noon.

To be completely clear, it is Jarritos Mandarin Natural Flavor Soda With Real Sugar. I purchased some from a latin supermarket last night on impulse. It's quite refreshing.

I had to look this up. What is the vodka-to-soda ratio? The problem is that the sweetness of the soda makes it easy to consume large quantities of vodka quickly, and the alcohol and sugar combine to quickly raise your blood sugar. This will lead to fatigue after the rush, requiring more alcohol or a nap.

Back in my drinking days in my twenties and thirties, I found something with a bite went better with vodka.

Let me address one question at a time. The ratio is ad-hoc, I would guess 20-25% vodka?

I learned to drink vodka and Coke from a Norwegian girl in Oslo, and thought that Coke would go much better with whisky (whiskey). She explained that whenever you see a young Norwegian with a Coke bottle, it probably has vodka in it.

Haha yes, I remember you posted this earlier. Apparently, puffing on a cigar while walking uptown Charlotte is a good indication of a weed connection haha.

To address another point you make, the fatigue and subsequent nap are what I am after.

Just thinking... Why is this thread limited to afternoon drinking?
What makes that different to other shifts’ drinking, like say, morning, noon, evening, night, midnight...?
Do those require separate threads?
I think we could have great chances to expand our horizons.

You make some thought-provoking points pertaining to the many opportunities for a good drink.

I cannot speak for the OP, but I feel the afternoon is an especially under-utilized time for imbibing. Evenings and nights are already quite popular occasions for such activity. In the morning, I personally do not always feel like having a drink or indeed being awake at all. But the afternoon? I can see no good reason not to drink.

To echo my thoughts above, I think we can all aspire to drink more in the afternoon.
