Henin vs Mauresmo-the new big rivalry in womens tennis?

Is Mauresmo and Henin the new great rivalry in womens tennis? Mauresmo has won 2 of the 3 slams to start the year. Henin has reached all 3 slam finals and won a slam this year already. They have met in 2 of 3 slam finals. Is this the big rivalry in womens tennis now, why is it not hyped up more and promoted more?

I don't think it's the next Big Rivalry in Womens tennis. We still have Hingis-Venus/Serena-Sharapova/Serena-Justine. It is a nice rivalry, and they produced a pretty good match.

Hopefully. The final was one of the few womens matches I watched and it was actually entertaining. And as an added bonus I didnt have to listen to either grunt their heads off like Sharapova who needs to STFU.

Yeah, especially after the Aussie Open final incident.

I think it did get quite a big coverage from media . . . they constantly referred to the Aussie Open final. That kinda shows they feel there is a rivalry because of that. They also played up the fact that those two ladies are no longer friends.

That's the great thing about women's tennis . . . RIVALRIES. There are sooooooooo many good ones going on right now. So many top players can win slams right now (unlike the men at the moment).

It is true these two ladies do not seem to have an affinity for one another anymore. That is good, it makes their rivalry even better. I hope they meet in the U.S Open final, it would really force all to acknowledge this is the rivalry in womens tennis. They both play with alot of dimensions to their games and makes their matches fun to watch. Plus neither is well beyond the other in skill and ability, and it is no longer clear Henin has a mental edge, so you feel either have a chance to win. Plus the top player in the world this year between them is up for grabs still based on what has happened so far. Playing so often is such big matches, and the circumstances and situations of their matches so far makes this an intriguing matchup along with the fact they are by far the two best women players right now.

It's nice to see 2 one-handers in finals instead of 2 Williams sisters.

I never enjoyed the all-Williams finals since there was not enough hunger to beat each other, and two family members fighting for titles with the same family members and friends looking on in neutral state just does not create enough tension and conflict between the two participants and their supporters. I am glad that era is probably over for good.
