Hot interior of the car, left racket inside, damage ?

So I left a tennis racket inside the car for about 2 hours inside the car, most likely reached 115-118 degrees inside. I did this twice unknowingly on 2 separate days. Do you guys think it did any damage to my racket ?


The findings were sobering: Within 1 hour, the temperature inside of a car parked in the sun on a day that reached 95 degrees Fahrenheit (35 degrees Celsius) or hotter, hit an average of 116 degrees F (47 degrees C).

Yes, the strings were brand new as well, polyester string, rpm blast full bed. it wasn't gut

Phone is probably fine. Mobile devices are tested to withstand temperatures you would encounter in the middle of the Sahara or Saudi Arabia. Nothing is under stress in a phone. Only issue may be battery. If it can hold a charge, you're good. If not, replace the battery.

weird but initially the battery seemed to be charging slower than usual. and maybe it will be ok later ? and I have one of those phones that battery don't come out, Samsung Note 8

I know this is may be a little impolite and may be the wrong place to ask. But can you Please tell us what you smoke? So I can try procuring that product .

Your batteries chemicals were cooked. It may/may not have affected the anodes/cathodes intenal to the battery. If it holds charge, you're good. If it cannot hold a charge, the 'chemistry' inside is no longer viable. That's when you replace the battery. If you are in NorCal, there are many stores that unlock phones and replace batteries. If still under warranty, have the manufacturer replace the battery.

I would not believe them. Ask a phone repair shop. Any battery can be unsoldered from a circuit board and replace. Only factor is cost. Apple use to say the same thing about their batteries. And yet they have a recall where they will replace defective batteries.

I am hoping it will be ok. Normal storage temp for iPhone and adroid phone is like -10 to 122 degrees faranheit. so I am hoping it will be ok. I don't think it got any hotter than 114-115 degrees inside the car

The Note 8 hasn't been out that long so you're still under warranty. Just take it back where you got it and just tell them it won't hold a charge anymore. They will just give you a new one. Just don't volunteer the information about leaving it in a car on a 95 degree day! lol

Thanks. I think the phone is charging better now that it has cooled down. let me see how it goes with charging. if there is noticeable difference in charge duration, I will take it back. you are right it should be still under warantee

When I was a child growing up in Australia in the mid-nineties (no longer there now) my brother was given a Head Genesis racket for Christmas. I think that it was during a holiday to Coffs Harbour that he left it in the boot of the car one afternoon while we all went off to join in with some no doubt miserable holiday activity. It wasn't that hot--well certainly not by Australian standards; probably mid to high 30s celsius--however, on returning to the car, my brother was in equal parts mortified and awestruck to discover that his Head Genesis racket had completely melted. My father wrote to the manufacturer and succeeded in getting a replacement racket, although they were at pains to say that this was an offer made out of generosity; they were adamant that the fault lay with us.

I killed a racquet in the car. I think the high heat stuffs the epoxy up. There was a ripple effect on the frame looked like it collapsed a tiny amount. Racquet didn't explode or anything exciting. Just very small ripple marks. I'd assume the longer and hotter it got the greater the failure. Anyway 47 degrees isn't going to do it. I play in 44 degree ambient days and holds up. Generally things feel uncomfortable at 60deg to touch If you can touch the trim likely it's not that hot.

I keep a large camping cooler in our vehicles when traveling in the heat for the frames. Just a one or two inc packs to keep it cool, but the cooler it self helps with the heat protect.
If it is n gut, the frames will be sealed to keep out moisture...
I also have the small coolers, to toss in glasses, sunglass ...
This was a trick I learned years ago, after I left a very expensive pair of shades in the car.

If your racquet is fairly new, then it's fine. Only with older frames where the resins have started to degrade or wood rackets would there be a chance of deformation. As others have said, your strings are likely gone. However, if you want to be sure your frame is okay, then cut the strings out and lay the racquet on a flat surface and check for any wobbling.

I'm glad you are happy with your racquets. I find Babolat frames too stiff for my wrist, elbow and shoulder (except an older Pure control/storm or a Prostock version ) and instead like Volkl, Pacific and Dunlop.

Yes the dampening system inside the pure drive is definitely shot. Sell the racquet as damaged and move on.

I think there will be serious snd terminal damage to your racquets and therefore you may have give them away because they are no longer of use to you any more in the state they are in.

I just bought a new car and the cabin temp gets to 135 degrees the few days when it doesn't rain in the afternoons here. My rackets are just fine in the trunk. I've been leaving them in the trunk for 15 years. NOTHING HAPPENS TO THEM!

I've seen quite a few of my clients racquets actually melt and crack when you take them for a hit. My recommendation is that you don't leave them in the trunk on hot days. See what your local retailor and manufacturer would say if you went for a warrantee claim and they new you left them in your car.

Yes. When Head graphite is left in anything over 115 degrees, the interior skeleton gets unglued and is seriously compromised. The right thing to do here is to give them away to children who don’t have a racquet of their own. Because they are simply useless for serious play at this point.
