How good coaches help the development of kids

@maxxy777 - fixed your post for you...

I saw few posts about how much some coaches charge and decided to make a post about it.
Those coaches are just brilliant, nothing more. Helping parents develop the psycho-social aspect and physical literacy of their children whilst inspiring them to play a game which lasts a lifetime. There are such coaches all over the world.

Trademarks of such coaches:
1. First they charge what they are worth because of the countless hours of training they have undertaken in order to be the best at what they do - you wouldn't expect a builder to produce you an extension for free - don't expect your tennis coach to do the same.
If parents are poor they charge less or help the parents by doing a deal or offering extra sessions for a discount or for free.
If you are not rich they will charge what they feel they are worth, given their experience and training - you have every right to negotiate, but please don't feel put out if they have a set fee.
2. They are nicest people you will ever meet. They are professionals.
3.They will tell you if they feel your kid is "talented" and what that might require if they want to be a champion.
4.Working hard means playing more hours per day which means the coach will help you find options for extra squads or practice with peers.
5. Now first thing they will do is change technique of some stroke and work on it for as long as it takes to get it up to competition spec. It can be technical, tactical, physical or mental, but they will make major changes where required because they want to help you child reach their goals.
6. Every kid coached by these coaches hits every ball to the best of their ability because the coach won't accept anything less than 100% effort .Parents love to see that.
7. Those kids play tennis, they practise exercises which may appear "silly" to the uninitiated, but are actually carefully designed constraints led practices. Practise is basically for working hard and getting better.
8. Rarely play matches themselves because they are dedicating their lives to helping your kids play better matches.
9. Play as little tournaments as possible ( because right now they are working on being a brilliant coach to your kids)
10. Those coaches play from base line, from the service line or from anywhere else they need to, to create the appropriate environment for your child to develop.
11. Some of them cant play to a world class level, but they can teach like nobody else.
12.If kid loses on tournament they will say:
a.) the kid was scared - we need to help them overcome their nerves with some routines or rituals
b.) didn't play what we practised, i'll have a chat to see if we can figure out why that is
c.) need more matches and experience, let's see what practice matches we can arrange for them.
d.) kid is lacking some mental skills which we will help him develop together
13. no matter what parent say or suggest coach will agree, because the parents are the parents and it is their kid.

Yes, thanks for posting the other side to this argument. There are good coaches out there as well as bad. New parents and players can take both sides and determine if a coach is the right choice for themselves.

One thing I would like to add to @Ash_Smith 's original post is that communication is key, from both sides. Communicate as a parent and/or player what you're wanting to get out of the training with the coach. Make a short term and long term plan, it doesn't have to be anything elaborate. As a coach, find out what they want out of the lessons. It avoids headaches in the future. Most of the time, people come in to take lessons and when asked what they wanna work on they have a blank stare on their face. I want at least a general idea, if not more, whenever I first start working with someone so I know the persons mental approach to training.

Omg.......way to avoid debating a serious issue of the many many many dishonest and manipulative and underqualified coaches! Surely if a parent without particular tennis knowledge could choose between only reading this post or maxxy777's it would have to be the latter!

Im just going to quote you one last time.
"Coaches in Sanchez academy are second to none"

90% from their 22 coaches never had atp,itf ranking and are 20 year old guys with very little experience.
Since they never played themselves and are to young to have experience coaching.
Let the people judge how much they can trust you about anything let alone tennis.

Not a 1% of critical thinking WOW .
You should go work for Kim Jong Un he would love this propaganda.
This is just scary if nothing else.
SAi Baba,Manson Family, Scientology scary.
Funny thing its exactly like this in real life.
Some coaches make cult out of themselves and everything they do is good.
Even they start beliving that.
