How many slams will Djokovic win in 2014?

Apart from 2011 when he won Wimbledon and US Open (+AO), Djokovic hasn't won a slam outside of Australia. I doubt he will win AO next year. He may win US Open in 2014. So I think he wins 1 Slam in 2014. What do you think?

2-3. The AO is given and he will finally manage to win a slam outside AO after 2011. It is long overdue. Probably FO or USO.

He's made the Australian Open his own so I can see him taking that, French Open, Wimbledon and the US Open I'd still expect a final at the very least, barring some catastrophe.

Well, I doubt he's gonna win the Australian this time as both Murray and Nadal are pretty good in Melbourne too. But I do think he's gonna win one of the other 3. Get a feeling maybe the US Open because he's been in the final many times and won only once. Maybe he'll be rewarded for his consistency at Flushing Meadows next year.

He'll have to stop a determined Nadal. Nadal will be going for a Double Career Grand Slam (winning all the majors TWICE, a feat that has never been accomplished in the Open Era).

I'm hoping he wins at least 2. The AO coming up to give him a boost and it's time he finally cracks the French Open this year too. He's been getting closer and closer and 2014, for me, has to be the year that he wins the FO.

Considering he can play Murray before the finals of both Wimbledon and the U.S Open (plus the Australian Open) "a final at the very least, barring some catastrophe" is a gross overstatement of reality. Not to mention Wawrinka who will likely beat Djokovic in a slam at some point, and it might well be next year.

I think he will probably win 1. It might be the Australian Open or it might be the U.S Open (unlikely to be the French, and definitely not Wimbledon). 0 wouldnt surprise me either, and anything more than 1 would.

Yes, I see there being a very good chance one of Nadal or Murray takes the Australian instead (more likely Nadal). Both are due there, and Novak's luck is due to run out there after barely winning the last 2 times.

The U.S Open might be Novak's slam to win next year, if he even does win one. After all the final defeats he is probably due there, but Nadal will be determined to defend a non clay slam for the first time so it wont be easy, and Murray, Wawrinka, and even Berdych, an improved Janowicz, and a possibly improved Raonic, can all be dangerous there also.

The only way Djokovic wins the French is if someone pulls off a Soderling. Nadal is not losing to Djokovic at the French next year, sorry. If they meet the encounter will be nowhere near as close as last year either. Last years match wasnt even close in caliber of play whatsoever as the final match stats prove, and was simply close due to the massive choking by Nadal due to his lack of confidence vs Novak then. The only reason Novak was able to even hang close with Nadal on clay was the mental edge of a then long winning streak over Nadal off clay, with that busted he has no shot vs Nadal, the far superior clay courter even today.

4 finals but 0 wins. He's losing everything now because he's so exhausted by the time he makes the final that he's got nothing left in the tank.

None 'cause there's another tennis player who would win ALL. Shall I give you a clue? Well.... that particular tennis player picks his pants a lot and his name begins with a R. Can you guess who?

I'm guessing 2, same as my guess for 2013. This year was about as one would expect from Djokovic at the slams apart from the disappointing meltdown in the 3rd set of the USO final. He won't get the harder semi every single time.

I think he will win the French.

People want to think that the Q-tip will win RG at some point, but I think nothing is less sure... he already burnt many occasions ... but not 2014 anyway, nor 2015, and unlikely in 2016 and 2017...

Nadal, if fit hopefully, will likely keep his momentum in the slams tournaments, and possibly even win a grand slam :
pessimitic Option 1 : USO 2013, AO, FO & Wimbledon 2014 , or,
optimistic Option 2 : AO FO, Wimbledon & USO 2014, yearly grand slam

Nadal winning AO would definitely increase his momentum for the bigger success. I will actualize my predictions from there.

Wimbledon still remains a question, but if he is through 1st week he could win...

Djokovic may have some of the remaining, but not sure because Murray could be back in shape by middle 2014, for Wimby or USO...

And some other outsiders may pop up, like Del potro, Janowicz, Wawrinka, or even Federer...

Djokovic may win some 2 or 3 sets matches but on grand slams his shape has decreased, so I see it difficult for him, i think Hhe has no more gluten credit left in his body, same for the egg...

So for the Q-tip I predict a 2014 with 1 GS (cf optimistic option 1 above) or zero GS (cf pessimistic option 2 above)

One. I keep thinking he'll win more, but he seems to waste a lot of energy on his way to major finals vs guys that wouldn't take a set off Rafa or a prime Fed(like Wawrinka). I expect more of the same at this point. Exciting 4 and 5 set wins on his way to 2 or 3 major finals in 2014, but only one major title again.

3. All but Wimbledon. It's his time. And with Becker carrying his bag from the courtesy car to the locker room, he will be practically unbeatable. Except on the grass - his weakest surface by far.

I think he will win 0 now. The Australian Open is the fountain of his confidence just like the French for Nadal. No way he wins the French over Nadal now after losing Australia. Wimbledon is out unless Murray and Nadal both implode, and there are many emerging big hitters to beat him there too. That leaves the U.S Open where he is 1-4 in finals, and where Nadal and Murray if they play to their potential are better as well.

Nothing positive for us Nole fans to grasp onto? :)

Not positive, but either RG or USO. Leaning towards USO. I think Nadal keeps RG and Murray keeps Wimbledon.

That's certainly very possible. Maybe Djokovic's 2014 will be like Federer's 2008 where he goes deep at the first 3 slams and then pulls off the US Open. Personally I feel he deserves at least one more given how many finals he's reached but obviously the French is the one I hope he gets if he were to only win 1 this year. Rafa just needs to stop being so greedy there lol! :)

Without the AO, it's going to be very tough for Djokovic to win a major in 2014. He could do it, even with Nadal playing the way he is. It's very unlikely that Nadal will sweep all the majors in 2014, so Novak Djokovic will likely have a real good chance at 1 or 2 more remaining majors, if not all three of them. At this point, I think his best chance is at the U.S. Open, with the French Open next in line, and Wimbledon being the least likely major for him to win. Nadal has now in effect taken away the AO from the Djokovic column. In previous years, Djokovic would pick up some momentum knowing that he already had one major under his belt, but now even that has changed. If Nadal loses in the final, that may give him some amount of solace, but from what I see, Nadal has more ways to win matches than Djokovic does. He is a bit more adaptable and flexible with his playing style than Djokovic in my opinion.

I concur. I doubt he'll ever win Wimbledon again.

Sorry, Nadal didn't take it away. Wawrinka took it away.

True. Nadal has not taken it away from Djokovic yet. If Nadal wins the AO title as well, he will stand as the AO champion again. In that way, Djokovic would have failed to repeat at his "favorite major" and Nadal will be the new AO champ. A similar thing would have occurred had Djokovic won the 2013 FO. I agree that Wawrinka receives full credit for pulling off the upset, but Djokovic also just wasn't able to produce the same tennis he has displayed at recent AO's. Nadal is close to winning the two hard court majors in a row. His hard court tennis seems to be evolving and even the slight speed change has seemingly not dampened his overall play. It's not as easy to just hit through Nadal on hard courts as some think. He can handle plenty of pace as well and often seems to send back hard shots with interest. It's that kind of adaptability that Djokovic is having a very tough time keeping up with. Nadal played mightily to retake #1 and now he is just adding to his lead. We'll see if Nadal can maintain his clay court form soon enough though. Djokovic needs to get to work and reset if possible. I hope everything is fine with him as he seems a bit listless out there in my opinion. He doesn't seem to be able to match Nadal's intensity at the majors.

It does look tough for him, but having said that Nadal has to something to prove again at Wimbledon as well after two straight shock defeats on Centre Court. Who knows, they could both fail at Wimbledon once again, thereby leaving the door open for say Del Potro, Murray or Federer at Wimbledon.

Oh I agree with everything you say. Nadal has no equal, and no one matches up to him right now. There is a huge gap at the top, and the competition is just not measuring up. I am just saying, that Wawrinka denied Djokovic that AO, NOT Nadal. Lets just leave it at that.
