Delicious, absolutely delicious.
The matches between these two players are so heated, so tense, yet they have insane respect for one another. Give me this clay matchup over Mugristotle ANYTIME.

Yup, it’s a good one. And one of the last matches Delpo played before his extended hiatus.

The Schwartzman match in the next round was also pretty solid.
You can't help but notice that one Argentine fan in both of the matches cheering loudly for his compatriots, but unfortunately for that gentleman, Nole is the biggest heartbreaker on tour.

Wow Delpo was red hot, hard to imagine him playing better then this on clay. I miss him a lot, his game is too good when on.

RG 2009 SF. That might be the best single match he's played on clay.

But this is a great one and it's definitely flown under the radar in the couple of years since it happened.

It is consistently used to prop up both Del Potro as a great clay player and Feds winning RG run as some super great stuff.
Del Potro kept it competitive for 4 sets. Murray of the RG 2016 final was done after set 1 in the final.

Like, zomg I have to defend this Del Potro mythical peak by finding this match Murray didn't play well yeah good argument mate.

In hall honesy I can't decide if Delpos best clay win is Cilic, Nishikori, or Soderling in a 250.
Del Potro showed high peaks at slam lots of time with all his injury problems. What he did on clay career wise is not a knock on what he did in RG 2009 and he often pushed a in-form big 3 in slam matches harder than Murray did.

Del Potro USO 2009 > Murray USO 2012 also.

Ha, don't bother with Red Kid. The nerd uses stats to prop up his beloved Pushrray and when people do the same thing to show him that his whiny hero was nothing but a Hewitt + a dozen of runner up plates, he leaves the thread and never replies again lol

Nah Murray is a great player not just a pusher.

If you by "pushing harder" mean "lose" except for one single run where Nadal was dogshit anyway and Federer outarroganted himself, then sure.

I felt bad for Djoko in that final. All the grind in past 2 days just to face the revenge of Nadal.
True! If I recall correctly, Nadal had an easy afternoon match that Saturday, whereas, Novak had a long 3 set night match with Schwartzman which gave Nadal a big advantage the next day. The same sort of scheduling happened at this year's Rome Tournament.
