How to fix my grip.....

So can someone tell me best way to decrease my grip on my Babolat Pure Aero from 4 3/8 to 4 1/4 ? I use Tourna Blue overgrip or Yonex at times on my 4 3/8 grips and after 1 year think I feel better with a smaller grip size. I have an older model PA 4 1/4 which I add Yonex's Super Grab synthetic overgrip and feels good... but a 4 3/8 grip is good too if it's used without an overgrip. So I think these overgrips add 1/8 to the size so really 4 3/8 becomes 4 1/2 ; and 4 1/4 (2/8) becomes 4 3/8.
So I'm thinking just do a replacement grip to decrease my 4 3/8 grip rackets ... what do you guys recommend so I don't have to add overgrip over a replacement grip? Should I go leather or synthetic? Some ppl think a replacement grip can decrease the size by a 1/2 ... don't want to do that !

Wilson feather thin replacement grip should bring it down to L2. Not sure the weight difference between the Existing L3 Babolat replacement grip you have though. Maybe get that checked out before replacing, so you know how much more weight to add to the ha flex if you carry out this modification (if you want to maintain the existing balance as much as possible).

Thanks. Kimony looks too good to put on an over grip lol. I ordered one. Assume it’s easy to put on, but nails and adhesive tape ?

babolat syntec pro is supposed to be quite thin and light for replacement grip. Personally, I like using wilson shock shield grip without overgrip...it was the weight of a leather grip but gel makes it soft and cushion the vibration/shock. Have seen multiple ppl get GE/TE from leather grip because while it provides ‘feel’ it also transmits more shock

So I read thats its comfortable and helps arm pain; but does it reduce the size of the grip by an 1/8 ? And if no overgrip how do you deal with sweaty hands ... or is that not an issue?

syntec pro might reduce grip size but wilson shock shield grip is somewhat bulky. Maybe use a towel to wipe off sweat if extremely sweaty or rosin bag

It comes with a double sided tape. I replaced my synthetic grip without making use of any nail. Haven't had any problem with it not staying put since

Syntec Team is 1.5mm and is thin enough that once you add the overgrip it feels like the original size of the handle was not changed. You can feel the bevels but there is a little cushion when gripping hard.

You can also try a leather grip like Head that is 1.5mm but will add some weight to the handle and keep the feel of the bevels firm under the overgrip.

TW has leather grips that are 1.3mm and Tourna Pro Thin is 1.25mm (no pic, but I do have some on hand) they will make your handle feel like you went down 1 size even with an overgrip on top, but the thinnest will be Kimony that s 0.7mm thick and has enough weight that it will not change the original balance of the frame and even with a thin overgrip it will feel like you reduced it almost 2 sizes. It is easy to install with the tape it comes with, altho I only used the tape at the start on the buttcap and the rest of the handle does not need adhesive to stay in place and no nails needed either.

Thanks for that. Can I ask if you know the weight of their grip? Either trimmed or untrimmed. Thank you.

I tried using the original Babolat Syntec Pro it the Pure Aero comes with and pretty nice just need an overgrip for tackiness. I ordered the Kimony and plan on throwing a Yonex Super Grap overgrip... Syntec Team looks good in the pic, whats the difference in thickness from the Syntec Pro ?

OK Syntec Pro is 1.9mm ...

I use the Babolat Syn Team and pull as much tension as I can when wrapping over the handle. Makes the grip feel smaller than it actually is. Try doing that with your replacement grip next.

It says 12g untrimmed on the original package, IIRC trimmed on a L3 handle was about 10g (but I can't find a pic on a scale from when I installed it). The Kimony leather on an L4 handle was 18g trimmed, the Head leather on the same handle was 21g trimmed.

I have installed Syntec Pro on my wife's frame, she likes a little more comfort on the grip from the extra thickness and is also a little heavier than Syntec Team.

Definitely, I like to pull as tight as I can and sometimes even undo the entire grip job when I reach the top, and re-do it pulling tighter again. You can see the difference on the extra material left when reaching the top of the handle, and then I install an overgrip.

cool. Thank you.
I think it is about the same as Wilson feather thin trimmed.
I will get some Syn Team next time to try. Thank you again.
