They almost certainly have elbow issues, but whether they're enough to render them incapable of playing to a high level this week is another matter.. possibly, maybe not.. who knows..
The likely scenario is their injuries popped up at the perfect time, so they chose to take a break - mentally if nothing else, and used their elbows as a legit excuse (without technically lying).
I think both players miss each other, and the chase.
Djokovic was all about the FO hunt, and currently in ranking limbo with no one near him, and probably won't perk up until either Stan/Federer say hello, or Murray loses a couple thousand.
Murray was all about the Djokovic hunt, and since he achieved that, he's in ranking limbo with no one near him, and probably won't perk up until Novak says hello or he loses a couple thousand.
They both have the 'what now' look about them.. and need to channel their inner Roger - finding something new to aim at.
You never know.. the old maestro may just provide the tonic for their ailments..
