Thanks again to @J011yroger, this has become a full blown addiction.

Tried Alu my first time too, definitely in the top 3 polys of all time. I, however, feel maybe the soft version holds that playability longer, though I would need more time. Now if Luxilon can translate the words “25% off sale” into Belgian...

25% off on a reel will be a great deal.
I expect to get discount in Aug\Sept of this year.

ALU Soft, definitely softer but less spin and maybe an extra hour of two of magic.
I recommend using Luxilon Element as a cross to ALU mains if you want more durability and comfort (even softer than full bed ALU Soft). It's a magical setup.

@am1899,

I had to upgrade one guy to 1.30mm ALU from 1.25mm since he was breaking 1.25mm in both Wilson Clash 100 Tours and then again when he switched to new 2018 PD's. He was getting about 10 hours on a full bed of 1.25mm before snapping the main. He wanted 2 more hours. out each frame, hence the 1.30mm.

Ordered him a reel of 1.30mm Alu and convinced him to try Alu 1.30mm mains and GW 1.27mm crosses. GW holds tension well and softens the Alu Power (or any stifffer poly) Bonus: GW Is a heck of a lot cheaper than Element or Alu Power.

660' 1.30mm reel = 36 sets of mains using eight 27" frame lengths for the main. I have to bridge the mains to tie off using 8 frame lengths for the mains, so can't use a Parnell knot. Sorrry @Richard Parnell. I do tie his knots for 99% of clients, but a few get @PaigeKnots.

But in his honor, I did use an @Paigeknot.. it is tight and rather nipply ;) @Jwockey might find it The Ashley Book of Knots and it will resemble something else but I am going to refer to it as the @Paigeknot due to the anatomically correct twins that remind me of Paige.

I hope I get a laugh from our esteemed mentor, even if I don't get his approval. Hoping @Wes and @Rabbit approve. I showed the client a few videos of Paige and he told me he will look at those knots and get distracted on the court. :-D

VS Gut/Alu Power Rough was the greatest 5 hours of tennis nirvana I've ever experienced. Went down rapidly after that however, including a descent into arm pain.

If I was a pro and never needed to have old strings in my frames, I'd use that combo all the time.

I tried vs/Alu soft with a 10% prestretch and it’s pretty good, have about 6 hours and it still is holding. Crisp but powerful and soft, and I would use it if Alu wasn’t so expensive. I’m feeling like gut/4g would be more budget friendly as it will hold tension till the gut breaks from my experience, and the reels are $20 less.

That would be a tough task, because there is no language called Belgian.

Ahhh I see. Either way Luxilon needs to go on sale.

About the most significant US Luxilon sale I’ve seen in the past was around Christmas time. Can’t remember the exact numbers, but perhaps roughly 30-40% off? Can’t recall ever seeing the reels go on sale.

Nice! Best poly strings I have found after a tremendous amount of testing are Tier One: Black Knight and Alu Power.
Played with nothing but Alu Power for years. Primo.

Yeah. They know how to make money at the expense of the customer’s wallet. I’d rather put the money into a crypto than buy a full price Alu reel.
