I missed my USTA match

I missed by last match because I had the time wrong. I showed up at the end of the match and my team was drinking beers. I thought they were playing a trick on me for a split second. I felt like such an idiot and was highly disappointed I didn't get to play. They had to default a singles match because of me. They ended up losing pretty bad anyways so it wouldn't have mattered.

During the winter mix I almost missed a match because I showed up at the wrong tennis club. I then had to drive to the correct place and made it with like 2 minutes left before my captain would've put in a sub.

I don't know why I can't properly read match schedules and/or reminder emails.

Anyone ever miss a match because of either showing up at the wrong time or wrong place?

Never happened to me because I am organized dude. You can keep a diary or something or a reminder on your mobile phone so that you don't miss matches and default them.

The thing is, I have a calendar that I filled out weeks ago after the match schedule came out. The problem is that I mixed up two of the days so I put the wrong time for the wrong day. That was simply an error in filling out my own calendar.

I would suggest that you print out the match reminder in the morning. Then take it with you to the match. (I often get a panic attack driving to the facility -- "Was it this one or that one?".

I'm surprised the captain didn't call you. You'd definitely have received a cell phone call from me!

I'm with Cindy on this one. Well first off, you should keep up with your own schedule. Second, I send out an email to everyone or call a day or two before the match. That way, there shouldn't be any "oh, I forgot" stuff going on...
As for Cindy's last comment, seems to me that the husbands are just getting the blame for their wives' mistakes!:D

I always bring a bag with two racquets to matches. Just in case I break a string. (Yeah right, I've never broken a string.) But I have lent out my extra racquet for those that brought the car without the tennis bag.

Probably 5mm barbed wire... (I nowadays carry 3-4 rackets to league/tournament matches after having broken 2 in the same match once..)
(I normally bring 4 unless I have one that needs to be restrung and I haven't had time to do it).

I'm thinking I don't hit hard enough.

hmm...serious what string do you use? i dont hit hard either, but the strings get flayed from all the spin you do.

I break strings probably once a month. Its from heavy topspin on the groundstrokes and kick serves. Most of the players I go up against don't break strings because they hit flatter and less pace.

Last year there were two occasions in which I was playing a match and broke strings on two racquets during that match. Both times I had to borrow from my opponent. Luckily they weren't USTA matches or my opponents wouldn't have been so nice. As a result, I carry exactly 3 racquets to any match.
