So what? Even if you were a 200 lb 12 year old we wouldn't judge you any differently.

I went through the same thing when I was 12, believe me when I say, you'll come crawling back to tennis.

i wish i played tennis when i was 12. if it doesn't interfere with your life then why quit?

God you guys are being tough on him. Take it a little easier. He's 12, not one of these punk 17 year olds with big mouths that run around on these boards.

you don't know that. he's 5 years away. lol. j/k

Look kid, quit, whining!!! Deciding to quit tennis is such a minor problem, just don't sweat it because life will slap u in the face. So next time post something that is actually a real problem, not "waaa waaa, i don't wanna play tennis anymore and be a fat doofus" just play or don't geez, how hard is that. I'm sorry I know ur only twelve but toughen up

Yes, come crawling back, and then quit again...

When you hate tennis, but have 'the gift', you may return, but so will the hate. When you take it up again, you will have some success, but the hate of the game will come back. And, if you are smart, you will quit it again.

The beauty of this situation is that it helps provide 'closure' on your earlier quitting. Some of us quit the game as a youth, and always wondered 'what if'. We take it up again, and realize why we quit in the first place.

Tennis is the most beautiful of sports, but some of us just have too much of a hate/hate relationship with it for playing. For those of us who hate it, we need to get out.

YOU WILL NOT GET FAT!!! Just because you wont be playing a sport does not mean you will be fat. You can still exorsice. Go on runs see if you can find a fitness center and start lifting. If you keep it up working out actually becomes a hobby. And my advise would be if you are getting burnt out take a break. Stop playing for a week or however long it takes you maybe a month, to see what you truly want.

You're only 12. Don't give up. These are critical tennis development years. Feel burned out. Take a vacation, get away, get perspective. Then come back and hit it hard. Be a player, a true player for real.

cmon man do not give up. but you know I did same mistake when I was 12-13 I trained too hard and too much 6h in day when I turned 14 I start get injuryes and I was 8 month without tennis it was the most tought time in my life but I survived from that. now I am 18 and now its okay for my body and head to practice ,compete alot I dont grow up anymore. you need just take it more easy wait untill 14- 15 and then start practice really hard

wow..what if you are rallying for 2-3 hours? To me rallying burns even more energy. I feel like somedays I burn 1,000 cals after 3 straight hours of rallying.

if I were you,I'd quit tennis.tennis is too hard to be a part-time thing, you really have to eat, think, sleep tennis, to be tournament player good and still there's no guarantee .. if I had to do it all over again I would get into team sports or/and golf.. you don't need any practice partner to get good in golf,it's all you..

I'm in a dilemma I have been playing tennis for 4-5 years and for about 2 years ive been playing every day for 3 hours im 12 right now and i want to quit tennis. My parents don't force me to play and don't care if i do good or not. But, if i quit i would be one of those dweebs that dont play sports so what should i do:confused::confused::confused:

Take up MMA for a while. If you do come back to tennis, you will enjoy winning competitive matches even more.

just take a break for a bit.
i quit for awhile at 12 because i got tired of training, but once i was gone for two weeks, it got really boring and i realized that tennis is actually important.
Plus chicks dig tennis players :D
