If Djokovic wins 5th Wimbledon in a row, does it beat Federer's 5 Wimbledon or US Open in a row?

  • Yes, it beats both

  • It's better than Federer at Wimbledon but not USO

  • It's better than Federer at USO but not Wimbledon

  • Federer's streaks are both better

Don’t even get me STARTED!!!!
Novak reigns over all of them, like the benevolent ruler that he is! ;)

Hmmm…

““He’s not an easy guy, let’s put it this way. Especially when something’s not going his way,” said Ivanisevic. “But we are here to put our back in and to get beaten. That’s what the team is for.”

Not so sure I want Novak to be my “benevolent” ruler.

We’d be calling Hewitt and Roddick mugs today because they’d be getting beat by Novak. I can already see the posts.
Novak would beat them, yes, but atleast it would be tight. The matches wouldve been interesting. We wouldnt be going into those matches already knowing it would be a straight sets blowout. This is what is happening today

Comparing Novak and Fed at Wimbledon they have not so dissimilar results
Fed first reached a Wimbledon winning level in 2003. Age adjusted Novak reached his Wimbledon winning level not too far off (in 2011 in actual time but age adjusted would be the equivalent of 2005).

Since Novak first reached his Wimby winning level there have been 11 Wimby tourneys played (including the first one in 2011). Novak won 7 of those. Fed also won 7 Wimbledons of the first 11 he played starting in 2003.

I'd say Fed's is more impressive since Fed basically had the match in hand in 2019 before another collapse. There wouldn't have been a streak had he hit an ace up 40-15.
Fed was never in that kind of trouble during his 5-year reign.

I still think 2015 Fed underperformed in the final against Nole. He was in awesome form heading into that match and Nole had been down 2 sets to love to Anderson earlier in the tournament. Fed was just weaker mentally at that point in the rivalry.

Why couldn’t Fed beat Stakhovsky, Tsonga, Berdych or Raonic?

Three of those matches were during the strong era... the other one he was injured...

The Stakhovsky loss was the only really inexcusable one.

You're forgetting that Djok lost to Berdych the very next round too...

But your retort is weak as **** anyway...

Djok lost to Ancic, Nadal, Safin, Haas ... the only pass he gets is losing to Nadal... possibly Ancic too but the other two?

It is right up there with Federer's five in a row, no question.

At the end of the day, it's five in a row.

Difference is, Djokovic lost to great players like Fed and Murray there hence why he couldn't clean up during his prime. He squeaked by nadal then fed in 18/19 and since has had the crappest draws in slam history to feast on. Not comparable to fed's peak level at all.

Because Murray ;)

Djokovic has gotten better on grass over the years due to improved serve.
Everyone automatically assumes his grass peak was 2011 but that's just not the case when you look at the data.

Actually, Novak's hold rate on grass in recent years is basically within the same range as in 2011-2015 (per ATP site).

2011: 91%
2012: 91%
2013: 89%
2014: 92%
2015: 95%

2018: 92%
2019: 90%
2021: 94%
2022: 90%

The distribution of service points won is different – his first serve is indeed better now than in that earlier period, but he was also stronger behind the second serve then. In actuality it's his return numbers that are higher now than before (at least more consistently):

2011: 31%
2012: 28%
2013: 25%
2014: 23%
2015: 24%

2018: 31%
2019: 31%
2021: 29%
2022: 29%

Not exactly what I would have expected...

You'd know better than me as I was the first to ask.
Nice deflection! ;)

But answering your question: there's no reason why he should.

Novak won his first Wimby in 2011. Since then (and including that year) he's played 11 Wimbledons. winning 7 of them. That's exactly the same Fed did starting on his first Wimbledon win.

That's not really an answer. Best player of all time SHOULD especially at his peakiest peak. And there you just deflected again! So you will always be up one on me ;)

oh, I don't think Novak is the best player of all time. So if that's what you are arguing against I'm not the right guy to debate that

No because Federer beat Djokovic two times to secure the 5 straight US Opens and beat Nadal two times to win the 5 straight Wimbledons. Hard to beat that for Djokovic.

Lol Roddick needed to bring the whole "Djokovic is the GOAT" speeches on the court with him when he played Federer. The only chance he stood not to be ruthlessly mocked by the clown clan.

Djokovic was not taking tennis very seriously at that time. Once he really focused and found his true mental strength, he reached unprecedented heights in the sport. It should be obvious to everyone, but haters refuse to see the reality. Sad.

Yes, I recall at the time he said it was just a part-time hobby. His main objective in life was bagging babes, ask Jelena.

At the same note, Novak beat Nadal and Roger in his 4 slam streak so it look the same, what do you think?
