One thing I dont understand is why making a Pure Drive Roddick by changing the specs of the original Pure Drive if not changing them with the real specs of Roddick's racquet.

A pro weights and customizes the specs of his racquet beyond what a recreational player can usually handle. This goes beyond mere weight but includes conbinations of overall weight, or mass, swingweight, balance, etc.

It would not sell as well if it was at his specs, it would be too much. The users on this board are not a common cross section of the buying public. There are many users here who go for much more demanding racquets than most of the buy public. Many here also over weight there racquets with lead tape. I admit to being guilty of that for a time, others never will admit to being wrong.

Both......

My understanding was that gut was at a reduced price and synthetics could be obtained free...unless you were an "elite member" i.e. Sampras. The two lines players stenciled on their strings was just apart of the string agreements players had under thier endorsment deals. Gut is too expensive to make just to give away to anyone.
