Is he?

I think that Federer detests playing Djokovic.
I don't believe this at all. Federer always makes it a point that whenever his rivalry with Nadal is mentioned, he includes his rivalry with Djokovic. He likes to speak of it. He did it today in his on court interview following the Nadal WO.

Agree. I actually think Fed liked his matchup with Novak generally, but since 2013 things have just gone south in best of 5. Having said that, i’m sure Fed would have loved to play Novak a few times in 2017!

Well it's a legit question now isn't it. Since his annual Clay sabbatical last year, he is basically an owner of the Micky Mouse part of Tour winning Sttutgart Open, Basel, Dubai, Laver Cup and Hopman Cup. And if not for a revived Djokovic and beasting Zverev he would have won Cincinnati, Paris and WTF also.
While in the same period of time at the biggest scene in Slams he was defeated by Anderson, Milkman and Tsistipas people who he is beating with eyes closed in the MM Tournaments.
Now with Rafa being injured and another IW title on the horizon, this pops up as legit question, tbh..
I voted Yes. Now, what else do you want from us?

As others have alluded to, the comment was made famous by AngieB, about Novak Djokovic in 2012-2014.
At the end of the day it is still about rankings points and seedings, which gives you the best chance to win at Majors.

Still don't have a life I take it?

When you get old, that's what you do. He's really good at best of 3 against not top 5 players. The problem is, he plays the big points very poorly. Age, nerves, whatever it is, he isn't converting break points against anyone, let alone the top guys.

Another non Slam tournament, another strong effort from the 38 y/o Federer. While Nadal is resting in Mallorca, Thiem tanking in order to try to recover some of that physical and mental energy spend in IW, and Djokovic smartly taking it easy at these two tournaments, the old man is going 100 % in Miami.
Is he playing too much, why he isn't able to translate this form onto the Slams, can he keep his physical and mental freshness for the Majors, plenty of questions to be answered in the next couple of months.

So Nadal is resting? There were some rumours about injury.

Yes, he is injured, that's why he is resting .

It sounded like he did it because Miami is just a masters1000 and they are all of a sudden small potatoes.

Should all top players tank/ withdraw from tournaments other than slams and the warm-ups? Or should Federer tank, because Djoko and Thiem did (they really did?), and/ or because Nadal is resting?
