Is Murray pulling a Nadal??

With news that Murray may skip the French Open in order to recover from his "injury" in time for Wimbledon, one must ask: Is Murray, after being inspired by the spaniard's time off and amazing comeback to the tour; trying the same sort of thing to give himself an advantage in Wimbledon?

If so, then more despicable and morally-questionable action from Sir Andrew..

Thoughts? Comments? Tantrums?

Not really. I think Murray is genuinely hurt....I mean, he could probably play through the injury, but everyone knows he has 0% chance of winning the French even at full fitness. So why risk it.

So I guess it makes sense to skip the French, recover from the injury, and play a slam you actually have a realistic chance of winning.

I think one could be forgiven for interpreting Nadal's game plan as betting everything on RG with a very good chance to win it. I doubt the same degree of certainty could be applied to a Murray plan focused on Wimbledon. His most realistic chances might again be at Flushing Meadows.

Why? He fluked that. In almost everybody's mind he has won an many US Opens as he has Wimbledons. I don't know whether Murray is wise to tank the rest of the clay season but all I know is I am glad he chose to do so; it saves me from having to revive the "LOL poor Murray got owned once more" thread that we all know and love.

So in your mind and almost everybody else's, Murray has won Wimbledon as well as the US Open? That's a nice thought but I think you and all those others will just have to learn to accept that it was the Olympic final that he won at Wimbledon and not the tournament itself. I understand how much you must get confused about this but don't worry, one day he really will add the Wimbledon trophy to his US Open one. Just be patient! :)

I know how hard it must be for you when Murray loses a match. But try and take solace in all the victories he has had. Then it won't seem so much of a burden to you.

You're absolutely right. Murray deliberately tanked his 2nd round match in Rome so as to have an excuse to skip the French Open. Everyone knows he has to have at least a month off before he is ready to play Wimbledon!

With 7 months off, Rafa reached 7 finals in a row. So if Murray takes 1 month of until Wimby, he is guaranteed to make Wimby final.

Ho hum..more hating on murray ?, never mind dear :)

soon you can have a lovely little sleep..and apart from dreaming about goblins and dragons, and men in gyms 'doing stuff'.. you will be able to have a lovely warm fluffy dream that djokovic won the u s open last year and not big bad nasty andy.

..and then diddums will have to wake up and face the reality that murray won.

I think Murray is genuinely injured which is a shame because I don't think he is as bad on clay as he is made out to be.
These speculations are probably arising because Lendl , who famously skipped RG to train for Wimbledon in his time, is his coach now.

The last time Murray retired was in 2007 at Hamburg, snapped tendon in wrist. When Murray retires you know it's legit.
