We should give more props to this man...
I mean, second best slam accomplishment after Rafa's FO, and best slam accomplishment on dominant tennis surface... He left in dust other greats in Australia...

Obviously it’s epic and obviously he deserves major credit, but half those guys he’s listed alongside are playing on grass courts so there’s no straight comparison there, and secondly for most players outside Australia the tournament has only been a thing for like 30/35 years so you have to give it time before this record really sort of has the all time long lineage you have at the other slams, especially the two European ones.

True, I mean you see that with Margaret Court. More meaningfully in the mens game so many of the premier players of the 50s and 60s were indeed Aussies, but even then the likes of Hoad, Rosewall, Cooper and Laver were all off playing the pros for so many years.
Still, if they'd all been playing there together they'd probably split titles anyway and none of them except maybe Ken likely even has a shot at 9.

Losing to those two means little to nothing when he went on to achieve a threepeat later on. One hot and cold performance against Thiem and this year's mid tournament injury struggle that was out of his control. Nothing puzzling how he climbed so high.

Shaky performances are not that rare for Novak everywhere... He wins his slams less dominant compared to Rafa and Fed...

Borg refused to travel all the way to Australia over Xmas, the same reason countless ATG’s skipped it. Lendl and Wilander were the first two non-Aussie ATG’s to prioritize it in 1982-84.

It is indeed. Nine titles at any event (heck, even "just" five is special all by itself) is worth recognition for sure. And look at how many good wins too:
2008 (statistically one of his most dominant runs)
2011 (nearly won w/o dropping a set)
2012 (needs no introduction)
2013 (Stan and Ferrer matches rank very highly)
2016 (who can forget that SF?)
2019 (that final...)
Though I do wonder how many Agassi could have taken if he had played at the AO prior to 1995. Despite being the best player at the AO up to that point, it's safe to say that he may have underachieved. Don't think he approaches 9 for sure but 5-6 seems plausible.

The 2012 title in particular was the most impressive because Djokovic had to win 2 matches back to back with 2 in-form players over 5 hours long in each.
