The Dunlop Areogel 4D 500 was my first racquet ever, around 5 years ago.
Never tried the M 5.0, but it's probably a good one. I just stay away from Dunlop's lately because you have to practically give them away if you need to resell them.
Used one available for $89...could probably resell for a little less than that. But I'd venture to bet that you'd like it a lot. I feel like it has everything the Instinct has, but more control.
They are only $129 new now, but if it's a 3/8", drop me a email with a couple pics and I'll think about it. This is the regular M 5.0, correct?
Oh I meant TW has a used one! (Not trying to sell on here forum police!) lol

"NEED to resell them"
We're tennis players. We're rich. We belong to country clubs. We wear the lastest in tennis fashion, ride up in a Beemer, and order Chiva's on the rocks after matches.
Why BOTHER to sell them? Just donate them to some kid's program, declare retail value, and be done with it.
You got a job! You'er probably doing just fine financially. Are you still living at home?
But in your defense, probably no other poster on here has tried as many racket's as you have, so if you don't sell some, you'd have 50+ new style rackets in your room right now.
Was the prince Warrior Pro a good one? Looks like softer babo
Just had a little demo session with a M 5.0 and really liked it.
A bit light, but not too bad. Nice controllable power with a nice feel on impact. Doesn't feel like the 70 stiffness that it is. Very nice alternative for the APD crowd. I could use it today and not need much adjustment time at all. Similar to the Head Graphene Speed MP. Just pick up and play. Good call Lilguy.

NICE! I saw it missing from the Used section and was wondering if it was you that scooped it up! M5 is still my go-to stick. Good for customization, but doesn't need it. Feels WAY less stiff and WAY more stable than it should be!
TW's used policy is great. You can return it for full refund if you don't like it, so I took a chance. Only thing is you have to pay for strings.
I might try extending it .25", since I am used to extended length racquets now. That would also up the swingweight though.
That's an idea!
I've tailweighted it substantially, and it still plays fantastically. Not a heck of a lot better than stock for me though. I just feel like for being so light, it's super responsive. And I don't buy that "the racquet is getting pushed around" nonsense people talk about. If I'm LATE with a 12oz racquet, THAT will get pushed around...more than making contact out in front with an 11oz racquet. So there! lol
I agree. I have yet to play with any 10.5-11.5 racquet that got "pushed around". Center the ball and the racquet can handle it.
Been testing the Dunlop M5.0 on the side lately and I'm a bit unsure about it. I was serving very accurately with it tonite...it was easy to hit my spots. On groundies, its not as powerful as I thought it would be and I have it now with full multi at 56. Nice crisp feel on contact, but the sweetspot feels a little "temperamental" sometimes. It's not that its small, it just feels "uneven" at times and hard to dial in your depth. I will give it some more time and see how it goes. I like a lot of how it plays but just not everything about it. Could just need more time to get acclimated to it?
All this nonsense about lighter racquets getting "pushed around" all the time is mostly mental IMO.
But how would you know? From that pink tennis court video, you never meet a drive with a drive but instead open the racket face and sort of 'bunt' the ball back. Also you're never going to see a particularly heavy ball at these sort of 3.5 levels.
I have not demo-ed m5.0 but did demo f3.0 and m3.0. Dunlops have an oval head shape with longer mains. This is good and bad. The longer mains can give easy power and let the racket play lively, but they can also be a little difficult to control. The longer mains could be resulting in a lack of consistency on speed and depth if you don't center your shots cleanly.
Maybe increase tension 3-5 lbs or go with poly mains to dial down the liveliness and increase spin/control.

I play full poly it in..Adrenaline Rough usually. It's definitely NOT a high powered racquet, but with it being so light, if you tee off and keep the tip speed up, the power is definitely there. It's such an easy to use frame, and I like it because I never think about the racquet when I'm playing.
Yes it is easy to use for sure. I am probably just being nitpicky and comparing it to my Organix 4, which seems to have an enormous sweet spot. My M5 has TF Multifeel in it at 56 and the power level is good. I swapped the grip for a Wilson Shockshield, which added about 7-8 g's. I may try adding some lead in the hoop, but I like how light and quick through the air it is. You can hold back your shot and then at the last second go cross court or DTL.
Precisely. Honestly, every time I play with 'control' oriented frames, like a Prestige Mid, or a Tour 90 or whatever, I never have the inside out FH or the down the line shot right where I wanted it...on a count of beind a little late.
With the M5, and sticks like it (V100 Team is nice too!), like you said, can wait til the last second to decide. Super nice.
As it is, I'm finding the same with the Graphene Radical Pro, despite it's weight. Not asking questions on it, just gonna stick with it haha.
Yes, I noticed you were liking that one recently. 11.5 oz per TW's specs will probably be close to 12 oz for me, after overgrip and dampener. Definitely don't want to venture up that high again.
Update on the Tecnifibre T Flash 300. Restrung it with V Torque at 53lbs & put a quarter gram of lead at 11 & 1. Racquet plays much smoother on groundstrokes. I don't feel like I have to whip through each shot with blazing RHS to keep the ball in. A loose arm and a relaxed swing produce a good ball that gets fairly deep in the court. The added weight has thrown my serving off a bit but I'm confident it will come around in another session or two. Still trying to figure out where I rank this one on my list of best 300 gram tweener sticks...but I'll give
It a go! Disclaimer, I have not tried every generation of racquet series.

May be a tad heavy 11.4 I think), but a terrific frame, for me far better than the 5

That's the compromise. A light weight racquet that gives you all day to disguise the shot won't have the consistent stringbed of a heavier racquet. Luckily, you're working from the light weight side and it's a lot easier to add weight to where you're comfortable with the whippiness of the racquet and it will feel like it has enough consistency as well.
I'd recommend trying 2g @3, 2g @9, and 1g @12. This should add little mass, but stretch the sweet spot somewhat and smooth out some of the hot spots you've been getting. Counterbalance in the trap door as needed.
I should note that if you have no elbow issues you can move the Pure Drive into the #1 slot!
I agree the PD and APD should be at the top of anyone's list of 300 gram tweeners. You still have the APD ranked higher...is that because its slightly more comfortable? My only issue with those Bab's is that they aren't the best for touch shots.
In other news, I am done testing the M5.0. Its OK, but it shares some of the same issues I had with all the other current Dunlop lineup. Very firm feeling throughout the hoop and inconsistent sweetspots. I found the same issues with the M3.0 and M4.0. I just went back to my Organix 4 today and was wondering why I ever left it. Such a wonderful racquet for me. I am going to have to resist other temptations because this one fits me like a glove
Anyway, if anyone's looking for 1 or 2 M5.0s, keep your eyes peeled on the f/s section....they should appear there soon. Nice stick for sure, but I can't top my X4 right now.
Gonna try it out tomorrow with Muppet's suggested setup, counter balanced in the tail. Stick is still slightly under 11oz, so should still be super fast.
So weird...I really hated the 400Tour, but there was no reason I shouldn't like it. Maybe I had a poor setup on it. Just couldn't find the zone with it. Do you weight it up? Strings, tension?
I have been using them with just a dampener and an overgrip.
String wise, they seem best with a lowish tension poly like Volkl Cyclone, that gives a really sweet ball pocket and plenty of spin and power. Love serving with them, can swing so freely with so much confidence.
I have one strung with Wilson Natural Gut 17 as a bit of an experiment. Works really well for doubles, great feel and a lot of volleying and service punch. Downside is a little bit of off centre instability high in the hoop ( it's really minor and you could fix it a little lead if you really wanted to) and a definite lack of spin ( well, compared to cyclone, anyway)
I have been using the gut one a lot for coaching, did I mention how it has great feel?
So, I love them, and have used them exclusively for the last couple of months including an open tournament singles win last weekend (yay!!)
I think I am reaping the benefits of sticking with a frame I like too.
Hope this helps
Tim, did you see Dunny's new idapt thing? Tempting?
Been playing with the Babolat Pure Strike 16x19 after transitioning from the Volkl Organix V1 Pro. Performance is similar, with the exception of a strong uptick in my serve using the Pure Strike.
PS100 is a nice light player-ish racquet.
I actually wanted something with a bit more heft, so the 16 x 19 model is working out great. The slightly smaller head size isn't noticeable at all.
