Do the VCores have an Aero-esque throat like that? It doesnt look like Nishioka's VCore headshape at all. I feel like he's either blacked out his Ezone bc of a sponsorship dispute, or is back to his old Babolat Aero with a Yonex buttcap somehow

Strange he'd switch back after having such a good season with the Ezone.
eh... he dropped off pretty quickly despite a few little moments with Kyrgios playing dbls - 17-15 for the year, ranked 95th.
Reportedly the old APD and Pure Drive grommets fit on the sides, and it's the same as the old pattern (similar to the 2018 and '21 Pure Drives going back to the string pattern of the original PD). Not on the top due to some of the holes being drilled different sizes. I wonder how the grommet channel accommodates them too since they redesigned the grommets to be flat with the surface of the frame.

I do know that. I actually tried fitting the APD grommets/bumperguard, surprisingly everything else fits except the last part of the side near the throat. So basically I frankensteined the whole thing, drilling a hole through the BG slightly bigger to fit in the bumperguard grommet. Now it looks kinda silly with the APD bumperguard, PA23 BG grommet, APD Woofer side grommets, PA23 side-end grommets, and APD throat piece. You can say I have a pro stock now

So it’s not a perfect fit but the string spacing is the same. Similar to 2016 and 2019 pure Aeros. 2019 grommets don’t fit the 2016 model without a good deal of manipulation despite string spacing being the sameI do know that. Yes, the string spacing is the same despite some drilled holes are located differently.

Surprised Yonex didn’t offer/he didn’t want to try the 2022 version which has a thicker/firmer throat like the APD.
Probably his choice to try the racquet he first used on the tour and as a junior. I’d put money on this being a mental comfort thing going back to what he used his first few years on tour and as a junior rather than Yonex not providing a racquet he can play well with.

I would but the racquet is strung at the moment. Unless you want a drawn out picture with the grommets/BG of where the holes are different compared to the APD.

I'm fairly sure he would be sponsored. Playing with a PJ and stencil/bag in other matches and was world #70 a few months ago before taking some time off.
he's still sponsored by Yonex, just playing around with his racquet again, lost some confidence in recent times so might be considering going back to his old faithful

realistically, he's not going to win adelaide again in early 2023 so he's for sure out of the top 100

Nah, it's all good. If you look at the side where the babolat's usually overlap (little tabs kind of) they don't overlap each other with this mix. Once you know it's happening it's easy to avoid.
The Aero Black out looks good though...
