lead tape under an overgrip?

I have a few strips of lead tape going up and down the replacement grip under an overgrip. Is there any reason not to do this...like your hand absorbing the lead thru the overgrip or something crazy like that?? thanks for any input.

It isn't a good idea to have even filtered contact with lead if you can avoid it. I seal lead in the handle with a covering of electrical tape . A new grip pulled tightly and my players have not complained. Plus the lead stays put.

Why don't you put the lead tape under the replacement grip directly on the handle?

Well, it may not be a question of laziness. Perhaps it is just a way to see how much lead tape they really like? Under an overgrip is more practical for this kind of testing purpose, but surely not a good long-term idea.

I have done this. This will make your grip bigger but it is reversible. Wrap the handle in saran wrap -> wrap saran wrap with masking tape -> put lead tape on -> wrap with saran wrap -> wrap with masking tape. -> Put over grip on. This does not save anytime, but is reversible without removing the grip and protects you from the lead. I have actually played for years with sticks this way. It makes a hard grip if you like that feel. Don’t put the masking tape on thick as it will distort the bevels on the grip. Make it tight so no slippage. Good luck. Probably would not work so good on a soft grip underneath.
