For those using the 2018 version, did you add lead tape to the handle area? I'm not used to such a head heavy racket even after adding a leather grip.

Wilson quality control adversely affected the CVs on a pretty wide scale, especially when they first came out. I've had one that was 1 pt HL strung, and another one that was 3 pts HL. I had to get rid of the 1 pt HL racquet, since it was basically unusable. It was over 12oz just to get it to 4 pts HL. I think they got he QC under control slightly over the last year, and more racquets were close to spec. I haven't run across any that were under spec (or over 4pts HL), however.

That’s funny. Cause all of the cv 16x19 are 5 Pt hl to 6 strung

Wilson removed CV from 98S Bold edition:

"Although it has similar specs to the Blade 98S (18x16) Countervail, this version does not have Countervail, giving it crisper feel with more direct ball feedback"

https://www.tenniswarehouse-europe.com/Wilson_Blade_98S_BOLD_Racket/descpageRCWILSON-B98SB-EN.html

So they openly admit that CV is Junk!!! I would love to try it but they ask full price for a PJ update :(
its like they brought the 2015 98S back at more than twice what i paid for mine and with paint that will make your eyes bleed

Good catch.

Is a bit odd that they'd do this though.

If you look at Burn lineup, CV has also been removed.....which is the only lineup of Wilson racquets were CV worked and didn’t totally mute response and feel. Too bad that Burn failed....to me they are still the best modern tweeners out there. A perfect blend of free baseline power, control and decent feel!!

Well, at least Wilson is proactive enough to remove something that didn't work as they had projected (unlike Head).

Yes but but but. You don’t mess with a players frame like they did with latest pro staffs in first place. They offered the option for ps97 with or without CV. Lots of people that hated CV were forced to purchase a Blade 98L and lead it up to their preferable specs.

Is there a way to measure HL without a balance board?

Guess I’ll take it to my pro shop. I just want to have them matched and add some counter weight in the handle.

Interesting. I'm sure there's an article associated with that?

I remember reading about an Italian biking company (Bianchi??) that developed CV as a mean to decrease the vibrations the riders feel from their road bikes. But don't quote me on this, I might as well have seen it in a dream.

That sounds right. Make sense

Infinito CV, not a bad bike, but Colnago C60 without any high tech materials is more comfortable than Bianchi CV. Résumé: quality material is more important than marketing mumbo jumbo ...

But I am confused. I did not like Infinito CV vs Colnago C60, but I do like Pro Staff 97CV more than regular Pro Staff. Strange this world.

re: the rubber paint.. you can buy a customized racquet on Wilson's website now.
for the Tsitsipas one, the paint is listed as gloss and 3/9 as matte.

tempted..

edit: played around a little more and you can build yourself a glossy paint Blade w/ the same paint scheme

Both the CV and ‘15 grommets have a top insert for the 8 center main strings. So, this is the only part of the grommets that you can’t change out. Everything else matches up.
So if I purchase a CV grommet I'll be able to install it to my '15 Blade with little modification and be factory like?

Yep, I did it on mine. And you could probably use the old green insert from your ‘15 without having to put all new grommets. Also, you can lol to see if you can make the black insert work. Sometimes a hair dryer or heat gun works wonders.

Unfortunately it is.I cannot find grommets for my 2015 because of this.Only in US market.Europe is out 2 years now
Its okay its not peachy here. People buy large stocks of Blade 2015 grommets then put them up on the bay. Hence why (at least on TW) the 16/19 2015 grommets are always on back order.

Well guys, I've made some mods to my rackets and right now they are at 346g strung (with OG and dampener).
Leather grip, 6g underneath, 3g at 12 and 10 and 2 (combined).
Do any of you have a similar setup? If so, what's your thoughts on it?

I got a customized Blade as a graduation present - all gloss, and it looks gorgeous. The paint also feels like it won't wear off just by rubbing your fingers on it haha
