wow...I never knew Lopez could serve that hard....125mph average 1st serve, 108mph average 2nd serve, 63% first serve %....those numers are better than Ljubicic.

Lopez is one of a few spaniards that can play on grass.
Indeed! He has a good crass-court game with nice volleys - He saved 3 MP's already, everyone with a great first serve followed by a nice put away volley!

figures there's a dramatic match going on and espn is giving me roddick, instead. lubo wins 11-9 in the 5th.

Skip...says your location is the USA, ESPN is an Amercan Broadcasting network. If you lived in Spain or Croatia I could understand your beef, but their focus is always going to be:

1. Show Americans when they are playing.
2. If an American is not playing then show a marquee name (ie Fed, Nadal, Henin Hardenne)

Not sure what court it was on but they might not have had proper camera coverage...could be wrong since I didn't get to watch any coverage today. Plus Roddick was in a tight match, slim chance they cut away from that.

Best comparison I can think of is college football. Living in Ohio most of my life you learn you are always going to get Ohio State and/or some other Big Ten team on Saturday, even though there might be a more marguee game going on elsewhere. It's simply appealing to your general audience.

Given Ljubicic's heritage, you think he would be better on grass. I think all that time training in Italy ruined any chance of doing well on grass. Italians never do well at Wimby. I won't be surprised if Ljubicic loses to either Gimelstob or Tursunov.

Ljubicic doesn't really have as good a game for grass as one might think....while he has a huge serve and can volley well, he doesn't get to net quick enough like a Mirnyi to do damage as a serve and volleyer on this slower Wimbledon grass...he is really a baseliner with a big serve...and his forehand is very inconsistent....he is quite big and clumsy as well, so it does not surprise me that he doesn't move well on grass where change of directionis even trickier. Also, his return game is quite average.
