i've never watched them play against each other. can someone please tell me how georges beat wozniacki?

Goerges takes the ball on the rise and that takes away Woz's recovery time. That and she hits with the belief she can make things happen. Makes Wozniacki move all over the court and can dictate the pace of the rallies. Goerges can be a UE machine, but she doesn't get down when those errors occur. She knows the match is on her racquet and just keeps doing what she does. I'm actually somewhat impressed.

Good win Julia against this overrated Wozniacki again... 2yrs. aback I was desperate with your headcases etc... and now... just incredible.

Vika is in destruction mode... at that rate very little players can compete with her level of hitting outside and in the top 10... I wished and live now to see it happen... Vika best top 5 player of the moment.

Nastya !!? Is this the breakthrough... ROFL I remember I said that though a year... 2yrs. aback.

Petra, unique talent... mind and game are clicking again not far from top 10 needs to make the 1/2...

the problem with azarenka (and every other player who continues her vocalizations until the ball is hit by her opponent) is that she is a cheater.

This is made clear by the fact that she brings her vocalizations up short whenever she nets it.

The fact that she continues vocalizing up to the point that her opponent hits the return shows her intention to interfere with her opponent's focus/concentration, because when that focus/concentration isn't in play (in particular when azarenka, and her ilk, nets it), she willingly stops the vocalization abruptly.

Azarenka and every cheater like her should be fined and fined and fined until they stop using their voices as weapons during a tennis match IMO.

Well said. Goerges deserves a ton of credit for improving her consistency of late without jeopardizing the aggressive nature of her game.

One additional factor is the Goerges serve. She has a powerful first serve, one of the best second serves in the game and both are reliable - relatively few DFs in general.

I have to admit that I thought Caro would figure out a way to beat an under the weather Georges this time. Big, big win for Juila!

We have all ball basher SF.

Li vs Kvitova
Azarenka vs Goerges

Tough to predict.

Li vs Kvitova-
Neither is a natural on clay, but since this is fast clay both seem comfortable on it. Li is a better mover, but Kvitova hits heavier. UEs will be high, but so will the winners.

Azarenka vs Goerges-
Goerges' confidence is quite high. Azarenka got humbled a bit against Safarova but moved on. This won't be as sloppy of a match as the other semifinal. Goerges has a more offensive game which could trouble Azarenka's so-so movement.

I'm shocked by the result. Kvitova was on fire. The match ended by the time I woke up. When Kvitova is in her groove, I don't think any opponent can do much about it.

Azarenka vs Kvitova for the title. Is Petra ready to step up even closer? Will Vika put another exclamation mark that she's ready for bigger things as well now that she's #4?
