"At least next match don't go out for 8 minutes" - Daniil Medvedev on how Stefanos Tsitsipas could have avoided getting booed by the crowd

The Russian was asked during his post-match presser whether he had any advice for Tsitsipas on how to get people to stop booing him. Medvedev himself had successfully managed to turn things around with the New York crowd during his run to the 2019 US Open final, with a combination of provocative gestures and apologetic comments.

Daniil Medvedev said on Friday that the first thing Stefanos Tsitsipas should try to do is avoid making the same mistake in his subsequent matches. The Russian was referring to the fact that Tsitsipas took another long toilet break in his second-round match against Adrian Mannarino, after having already incurred the wrath of Andy Murray for a similar action in the first round.

"I want to say we all need to go to change sometimes our clothes," Medvedev said. "Somebody does it five minutes, six minutes, eight minutes. What happened with him and Murray happened. He got booed. At least next match don't go out for eight minutes, and that's what he did."

The Russian then recalled his own experience during the 2019 US Open, where he avoided repeating his mistakes after having earned the ire of the crowd once.

"If you will remember 2019, I did a mistake," Medvedev said. "Well, I was not continuing to do it every other match, otherwise the crowd would not go behind me. That's the only advice I can give."
The 25-year-old did point out, however, that Stefanos Tsitsipas was under no obligation to listen to advice from anybody.

"I mean, he has his own life," Medvedev said. "He probably won't listen to my advice."

Nothing wrong with a player following the rules. That should be the advice.

Anything else is just sour grapes and bullying

Good to see Medvedev talk in support of the crowd's interests.

I did not think I would hear this from him, but he has matured and has a point.

Tsitsipas is probably the only guy among these next genners who does not bother to give unsolicited advice to anybody else. But hey, at least Medvedev did not call him a cheater like Zverev did and was merely responding to a question. Not too bad of a response considering the history they share.

Nope I remember Tsits mocking Novak injury or Mto, mind you, Novak used to really like Tsits and Congratulated and hugged him after loosing in Shanghai and spoke high of him.
But yeah Zverev shouldn't have called him cheater without proof

My advice to tournament officials whenever Stefanos plays: park a john, inside the stadium, within eyesight of Stefanos, so he can feel assured that his needs will always be met.

Winning within the rules is always the right way. (Not by breaking them via extended periods between service points, etc)

Stll..... crowd interests have to be taken into account as well.

Players exist because of the crowd and the match officials (umpires-ball boys etc etc) exist because of the players

Without players the ball boys, umpires, commentators etc etc are useless
Without the audience the players are useless

So that is the hierarchy of importance, we should not forget

Crowd > Players > Officials

If audience are booing you then 90% of the times it is your fault unless it is in the middle of a point and someone is acting rogue from the crowd.

Your issue then shouldn’t be with the players that follow the rules, but the institution that legislates the rules.

Pick on them (ATP) - not the players

You never saw Tsitsipas preaching on social media then? Your post will need revision.
