Medvedev and Djokovich are both going to lose to Felix AA so what difference does it make?
Yeah, 0-8 finals and 0-16 in sets Felix will miraculously morph into slam champion Felix with back to back wins over Meddle and top half winner.

Maybe if they resurface Ashe to make it grass, where he’s beaten Zverev and Harris this season for his only victories against any of his potential opponents; but only if someone hypnotizes Felix into believing his SF and final are not significant matches and chances to confirm he comes up short at the money end of tournaments. His biggest chance to date wasn’t even a final; it was a M1K SF vs Isner at Miami’19 and Felix produced one of the worst chokes I have seen in a long while, twice serving for sets he wound up losing in TBs.

I wish the young man well in his attempt to break this trend but I doubt it’s going to happen the first time on the sport’s biggest stage.

These things happen when they happen. No one can predict them. Could you have predicted Federer taking out Sampras in Wimbledon 2001 and then Ivanisevic winning it all?

Novak fans were predicting he had zero chance at RG when he drew both Fedal in the draw, so I don’t much believe your false bravado now.

As for Djokodal, they’ve only played 7 hard court matches since 2013, none of them were in 2017 (Novak’s worst year), while 4 were in 2015-2016 (Rafa’s worst period).

They’ve only played 2 HC matches over the past 5 years and the last set went to a tiebreak. None of these matches were at the USO, Rafa’s best HC slam and Novak’s worst.

If Rafa’s foot was healthy, Novak fans would definitely not prefer him to Medvedev in the final. It’s a no-brainer.
You really think that bringing up Nadal at Roland Garros (and lumping Federer in there like he mattered in 2021) refutes my point on how tough he'd be on hard courts? Not to mention that, even if he carried on playing this season as normal, the fresh loss at the French would have made it even more difficult for him to win elsewhere in the near future. We can slice their H2H in all ways imaginable but Nadal will have zilch on the set scoreboard every time. Medvedev, with the exception of this year's AO, gave Djokovic trouble every time they played and that isn't something to be ignored IMO. For 90% of Novak's career, Fed and Rafa were by far his two most difficult opponents. I just don't think that applies today anymore. Other than Nadal on clay obviously.

You’been slicing up their H2H to ignore 2-1, bud ;) So don’t be the pot to my kettle.

Med isn’t even playing or especially serving as well as his 2019 version imo, who still got beat by old Rafa in what could’ve been straights.

I’m not calling this version of Rafa a world beater, but the competition other than Novak is just not that steep.

Non sequitur there that I’m having a hard time following. I was discussing what has moved from a once or twice off event into a disturbingly frequent pattern of underperformance by one player in the last three seasons and you bring up results from a slam 20 years ago? What has one have to do with the other???

I'm afraid I can't say it any more simply than I have done already.
