Will he?

He has now announced himself on the biggest stage, the grand slam events and has broken his slam virginity. Will he add a second title this season?

Djokovic is getting older
Alcaraz is stagnating
Rune is insignificant at grand slam events
Zverev and Tsitsipas are perennial QF/SFist
Medvedev is his pigeon
Hurkacz is a choker
Rublev can’t make it past a QF

Who is there to compete with this Italian beast?

Medvedev is not his pigeon at all. Last year Medvedev won twice and he would have won today very likely if not for fatigue.

Sinner would still be favorite basically because he is for sure better on clay and grass and on HC they are somewhat equal.

Jannik is hungry for more. Especially at the French Open. Winning there or at least making the SF/F would confirm his physical improvements.
But most importantly, it's time for Jannik to do something during the clay Masters. He has under performed for far too long.

Sinner has the game to succeed on any surface and against any type of player.

Based on what I saw today he could win USO. I'm not sure clay is his strongest yet and it looked like he needs more work on his volleys to be a lock for Wimbledon.

Medvedev reduced Sinner to his personal lapdog status in the first 2 sets before mileage in the tournament getting the better of him. Med also has a winning h2h over Sinner so calling him Sinner's pigeon is being dishonest to yourself..

Medvedev would have had the easiest win of his 2 week campaign so far had his legs not faded away after one and a half sets, he is far from being a pigeon.
I’ll be the first one to say it, but mark my words by the end of this year, Jannik will have a positive head to head against the Russian.

It was Sinners first GS final and he was a bit nervous. I think he’ll continue to defeat the Russian, especially on clay and grass which don’t suit his game so well.

I feel like I want to hold off and see how he responds to this one. Some guys take a bit to find that focus again – although Jannik seems all business so I wouldn’t expect any big walkabout.

Who was the last non-Big 3 player to have a multi-slam season? Agassi in 99? It’s not easy, and with Djokovic, Alcaraz, Medvedev, apparently now Zverev, maybe Tsitsipas and Rune on clay – there’s a lot of threats to overcome. I’d guess no, he doesn’t win a second this year, but wouldn’t be a total shocker if he did. Definitely a contender on all surfaces.

I’m confident he wins one of USO/Wimbledon. I don’t see Djokovic or Alcaraz defending their titles

Wimbledon would seem to be more open. Not sure who‘s a true threat for the title outside of Alcaraz and Djokovic, and yeah, would be a huge effort from Carlos to defend the title there. Sinner’s last two campaigns only ended at the hands of Djokovic. I could see that happening again, to be honest – would be absolutely massive to beat Djokovic twice at slams in the same year.

I’m taking a near 23 year old Sinner to defeat a 37 year old Novak at Wimbledon if we’re being honest.

It is a big achievement in the young guy's career. He was a pro skier. He chose tennis. He must've had so many doubts. Did he do the right thing? He's now proven himself on the biggest stage.

Naturally, he'll relax a bit. I don't see him winning anything big until the hard court season begins before the USO. He should make semis at W and FO.

I hope he does not relax like Thiem!!

I wouldn’t rule out Sinner at the FO either. A few years ago, he stormed to the QF; only to lose to Nadal. His fitness and overall game are so much better now. And his mentality is much better. His comeback today was nothing short of epic. There were lots of 25+ shot rallies that could have worn him out. But he steadied the storm.

Sinner should be one of the top-3 favorites to win the FO, IMHO. I honestly wouldn’t expect Tsitsipas or Zverev to close him out. Maybe only Djoker and Alcaraz should be favored over Sinner at the FO.

I agree as well, either way Sinner won. It’s only gonna get harder for Daniil to defeat Jannik now
Is it guaranteed though that Sinner would maintain this form forever? As we saw with Alcaraz last year & the year before, it was very difficult for the young Spaniard to maintain it beyond 5-6 months.
Sinner has maintained his form from late October till late January, will he carry it on? Or will he have a drop like Alcaraz had after USO 2022 or Wimbledon 2023?

2020 FO courts were not true CC.

I agree as well. His clay level is highly underrated and also his point construction is very much improved. I wouldn’t be surprised if he won his first clay masters this year.

How'd you explain Medvedev's own declined serve, shot & foot speeds then? It was a very visible difference.
You can't keep playing in the zone for the entire duration, can you? You enter a zone and your level comes back to normal after sometime. Tennis is a momentum game.

Jannik was also dealing with first GS nerves. Clearly, Med wanted to impose himself and get off to a flying start. And he succeeded in doing that. Then, Jannik came back and Med's level came back to normal.

Nobody outside Fed, Nadal and Djokovic has won multiple slams in a year since 1999 Agassi.
right, coz those nobodies did have those three hence super slim chance to fulfill that, but once those three gone its gonna be way easier to do for current new guys
