Most Consecutive Men’s Singles Finals of an OE Slam?

Lendl made the finals of the US Open every year from 1982 to 1989. (He won three of them: 1985, 1986, 1987.)

That’s eight straight years in a row. (I think Fed made seven consecutive finals at Wimbledon.)

Is this the record for consecutive years by a male player reaching the finals of a slam in the Open Era?

Yes. As you say, Lendl's 8 consecutive US Open finals are an Open Era record. Federer is 2nd with 7 Wimbledons (2003-2009) and joint 3rd with 6 US Opens (2004-2009) along with Borg's 6 Wimbledons (1976-1981).

I used to think that clay was Lendl’s best surface. But it would seem that he really adapted himself to hard court, and made that his forte.

But upon looking it up, I discover that of his 94 tournament wins 33 were on carpet, 31 were on hard court, 28 were on clay, and two on grass.

(If we consider carpet to be a hard court, they yes: 64 titles were on that surface, or about 68%.

I write this not so much for the official titles that all in all are equivalent even if the totality of the not official titles are on carpet or hard, but because while the opponents on the carpet or hard were the top of the top of those years (Connors, Mac , Becker, Edberg, Wilander, Mecir), in the red clay after Borg's parable were of lesser importance.

He made the final of the YEC every year from 1980-1988 and won 5 of them (1981-2,1985-7).

His 2 grasscourt titles came at Queen's which he won back to back, 1989-1990. In the 1990 final he went some way to avenge himself for his straight sets loss to Becker in the 1986 Wimbledon final by returning the favour at Queen's.
