Safin easily. He is done.

For once we are in agreement on something. How much would you like to bet that come the Australian Open there will be threads if Safin wins even on e match on how great he looks, and that he is going to beat Federer or Nadal in such and such a round. :p

It's become almost a weird trope of this board with Safin. Everytime a GS comes around, some people will post a "Safin will win this slam!" or a "this time Safin tries!" thread and you'll actually have people agreeing with them.

Safin was a great great player for an extended period of time, just because he's had a poor couple of years doesn't mean he is overrated. His days at the top are over but we all know the talent that he has.

I would say Blake, he hasn't done too badly of late and he's a great guy but when you hear how some people talk about him you would be forgiven for thinking he had a few slams under his belt! Young too gets alot of hype but I guess that's because he's young and American so the forum likes to talk about him which is understandable, same with Isner, wasn't it only a couple of months back he was playing college tennis? You're adopting the British ways of hyping up the young players only for them to disappoint ;)

Not to be overaly scientific or anything but a "great great" player is a little strong for a guy with only 2 slams, who has spent something like 2 months at #1, and only had a handful of years ended ranked in the top 10. Even a great player is probably a push for him, although he might narrowly qualify as that.

He is still greatly overrated on this forum since people still talk about him as if he is capable of beating anyone or doing anything which he isnt. His best tennis he is capable of now was against Federer in the 3rd round of Wimbledon, and Nadal in the 1st round of the Canadian Open, and got 1 tiebreak out of each match only. Even his best is no longer going to be good enough despite what people want to think.

Well, Roddick is the 5th best player and Henin's the #1 female player and they both are in the damn poll.
Sometimes even the highest ranked players can be overrated.

In a nutshell. I mean, it's kinda strange how people wil ltalk about the up-and-downs of a Blake or Roddick derisively, but then they'll romanticize that with Safin. If Safin lost every single match in a year, there will be people who will STILL pick him to beat a top 10 player or win a GS, even though time after time after time after time, he lets them down.

I actually consider myself a Safin fan, and I love his game. But everytime Safin loses, it makes his legend grow.

Safin and Gasquet, both are great players and both have beautiful backhands but their results leave much room for improvement to put it lightly.

you.

LMAO, to funny. And this posting was obviously because of the one I posted, so kudos to saying he's the most overrated, lol.

But seriously, to put an actually answer down. I'd have to vote for Safin. I say this, because I personally think he's done. He's got an immense amount of talent, but his mind gets in the way. He just can't seem to focus anymore. It seems that overall more people think he'll still have that last comeback, at least of all the names that were provided. I'm sure there are plenty of other candidates, more worthy. I will say though, that Blake is a close 2nd, as he still has not passed the quarters of any slam, and it seems like it's going to stay that way.

can you read (& understand) what overrated means?

He meant that theres tons of hate for Roddick on this forum, and everyone says he's a terrible player, and people still pick him as the most overrated player on this forum.

So what are all the other players in the top 100 who've never even made it to a final of a slam? Awful players would be a push for them probably, right?

For me it's Young. The guy has done absolutely nothing and isn't even in the top 200 and yet there are these endless threads that keep appearing about him.
At least Safin and Roddick won slams and have ben no1 in the world.

ya. this is funny too. I think it is because he is American. There isn't any hope of American players winning a GS among the top 50 players, so the American fans start to dig deep to outside 200 to find their distant hope some time in the future, and they found the guy called Young.
Nobody cares who Young is unless he is American, and of course American media also touts him. There are many many other players who are better than Young at the moment but from other countries, but these players are unheard of by these people.

Murray and Gasquet. Y'all are the ones who overrates Roddick with all the numerous threads i've seen on this forum then y'all keep complaining on how overrated he is.

Roddick. Everyone saying his good, played with heart especially in his last matches against Fed. But he couldn't win another slams again for sure. His done.
