**** My Life! I Just Broke My Favorite Racquet!

DAMNIT, a few days ago I added about 1.5oz of lead weights into the handles of my AG100s. That one modification was all I needed to fix my backhand and volleys. It was so solid, the feel was off the charts and the increase in maneuverability was unbelieveable. So now, like a genius, I went and took the cap off one to try and make the changes permanent by shooting some silicone sealant down into the handle. Before that, I needed to push my tissue-paper/fishing weight concoction down as far as possible so that it wouldn't rattle. GREAT IDEA. I ended up pushing it too far and somehow busted through the end of the handle and into the bottom of the throat, and now I've got a lead weight trapped in my throat with a huge wad of **** too far down the handle to pull out, AND I broke part of the racquet in the process. Oh well, lets me take advantage of the TW $100 aerogel deal :D

Anyone have any stories of by pure fault of their own, they managed to FUBAR something?

I just leaded up my racquet yesterday, so let's hope everything turns out ok with that.

I haven't had any horror stories with racquet modifications, but I've woken up on a nice morning to get on my laptop only to find that the screen died and required $600 or some number like that to fix it.

One time when I was installing a new video card into my laptop as I was removing a panel above the keyboard, I pried it too hard and broke a piece off and yea, it was only $30 for the replacement (I never replaced it btw), it just sucks to think that it's not in perfect condition.

I stabbed my finger one time while opening a box and it bled profusely--here's the kicker. I was all excited and decided to open it while I was going #2 sitting on the toilet, so that kinda made a mess...in a lot of ways.

Hope these stories make you feel a bit better.

I have a few cotton balls above the handle in my PDR from an experiment a while ago. Fortunately they are very light and they don't rattle.

> do the cotton balls make your pdr swing lighter?

I was hoping that additional weight would make it feel less stiff and make it more maneuverable at the net. It didn't work out that way and I removed as much as I could. I'm using the KPS88 which has plenty of weight stock.

Too late, already got three :D

Lol I bought as many as I already had just to replace one, now I officially have no money to pay for anything college related what with the stringing machine, new bag, new shoes and new racquets. Oh well, tennis and engineering are pretty similar..ish

i let my friend borrow mine k90

he went to the beach
he forgot my racquet

i never seen him since

NO ONE borrows my racquet even if I'm in attendance unless it's they themselves and am playing against me. People always come by saying "hey can my friend try your racquet? he's looking for a new frame". No. I'm not a ****ing pro shop, there is a reason I have this many. When you use 18awg string on a 16x19 frame, breakage is pretty common.

i agree.NO ONE BORROWS MY STICK.askin someone if you can borrow their racquet is like askin a father if you can hold his newborn baby.even if your racquets old as hell.Never a good idea to lend your sticks out in my oppinion.

I have no problems lending out my racquets but then again I have kids. I've found that most people don't borrow the KPS88, K90 or Redondo for very long. I also have a 4 5/8 grip with an overgrip on top and a lot of people think that's a bit on the large side.

That sucks dude. I don't know about using silicone, that would have added more weight to the handle. I would have used an expanding foam, like Great Stuff. You just have to carefull with it, it can blow out if too much is applied.

I stabbed my finger one time while opening a box and it bled profusely--here's the kicker. I was all excited and decided to open it while I was going #2 sitting on the toilet, so that kinda made a mess...in a lot of ways.

ROFLMAO...What was in the box that you could not wait to finish #2?

Nope, the silicone is fine. I removed some of the lead and weighed out an equivalent amount. It would have been the same to take the silicone into account.

No no, you misunderstand. There is a difference between trying out and demoing. If you want to hit with it for a few points, then who cares. You aren't using one of my racquets for a match just to test it out, and this request happens often ;)
