Nadal-Ferrer French Open 2012 SF

A forgotten gem from peak Nadal, insanely good performance from him that day, cherry on a top of a glorious clay season.
At times his FH would just feel like hammer, so much heavier than it was been ever since.

Unfortunately after having tried every option available I still couldn't get past the Youtube copyright so the match is up on Dailymotion in 2 parts:

And for those who don't feel like sitting through the whole match I made extended highlights with most points relevant to the "plot" of the match included and some insight from the Eurosport commentators on how the match is going on.
Three amazing points from Nadal at 9:25 15:10 21:05

PS: If anyone is interested, the Daily channel has FO semi between Djoker and Fed uploded in 4 parts set by set. http://www.dailymotion.com/user-CrisuCris

The whole tournament was Nadal playing like a beast. I was rooting for Djokovic to win the tournament but as soon as I saw Nadal's form, it was pretty clear it would have taken the very best Djokovic and Nadal to be off his form, for him to lose this edition.

This guy was born to play on clay. I can't think of any one who could have beaten Rafa at FO12. He covered the baseline like a machine and put immense pressure on his opponents.

Great match from him, and the 2013 final was also. Somehow when he gets Ferrer on Chatrier he has far less difficulty beating him than at MC/Rome/Barcelona.

Because Ferrer is a mental midget.

Kinda why he wouldn't win a slam in any era.

Yeah, Nadal was freaking scary. The links don't work for me. Maybe because I'm on my phone?

Lol, none of his top-10 matches on clay were in 2014. No way. You either forgot or never watched young Nadal on clay.

I meant soley the 2012 match, not the 2014, meant that it was a similar type of performance as in destruction of a top 5 player in the semi.
As for the top his best match ever on clay, I dunno, too many too choose, the 08 QF vs Almagro maybe, what do you think @InsideOut900

Having watched all 3 matches from FO 08 I would say the semi against Djoker, but it would be like 1% better than the other two, you get the idea. The QF against Almagro is the 3rd in the list. Nadal's offence was slightly less potent than in the SF/F and Almagro made way too many easy errors.

Djokovic was down 0-2 sets and a double break and he was playing quite well. It can't get more dominant than that. Djokovic raised his level into the stratosphere to push it into a TB and Nadal only made 4 UE in that 3rd set.

Admittedly though, Ferrer and Murray weren't top 5 players when Nadal beat them in those matches.

I thought Nadal took his foot off the gas in that third set tbh. Djokovic did play well though, better than Federer for sure.

The official stats for the FO in 07-08 are garbage as well BTW. Did you count those 4 UE's yourself?

Kind of... There is about 1 year since I saw the match last time. He made like 2 UE in the first 4-5 games and another 2-3 UE till the end. The rest were forced errors.
@abmk also made stats on it https://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/ind...vic-french-open-2008-semi-final-stats.558246/

He wasn't as aggressive as before, right! But still, it would take some play to break Nadal twice given he was barely making any error.
Djokovic was super aggressive in his play, I was very impressed by his level there.

In 2012-2014 Nadal had a trilogy battle against both Djokovic and Ferrer. Faced both of them every year at the FO between 2012 and 2014.
