Nadal 'not obsessed' with beating Djokovic.

Like I said, and glad to see people agree. Doesn't matter how he plays, Novak will win Nadal will lose. The only way Nadal is going to win is if Novak has a serious injury or for some other strange reason has his level drop way way down. Novak simply does not have weaknesses like Nadal and Federer do.

Sir, you have a way of making the grandest of assumptions and call them "absolute".

From a fellow Nadal fan to another....please don't do that again :)

I think Novak likes his odd against everyone, remember Novak lost to other people besides Federer in 2011. We will see what happens, he just might be smart and let everything else go while saving his energy for the slams.

Whom do you think Novak would prefer to face in a slam, Federer or Nadal?

I'm not sure Nole really cares about who he has to face in the Majors.

He might do after this coming Sunday, though.

Federer, the last 2 times, Rafa had him laying on the court gasping :)

It's like asking, which of these options you prefer:
1) win the vast majority of the matches (if not all of them) but work really hard and be drained both physically/mentally afterwards
2) win a bigger half of the matches but with far less strain

No, they did not. Nadal said Djoko-Murray agreed with him. Djokovic himself refused to make public statements. The only other player brought up here was Davydenko, and he spoke specifically about pay-rise. He NEVER agreed with Nadal on the schedule. I wish Nad fans would STOP derailing threads like this simply to start a Federer bash-fest and STOP spewing utter lies.

Take it up with the commentators. I don't have time to argue with you as you seem to be the one derailing the thread, imo.

Remember that he was injured really bad, so it is possible that the games could have been a lot tighter and he would have been a much stronger opponent.

I'm aware that Hewitt got injured, but his reign still seems to be more transitional than dominant, imo.

Yep. It says a lot about the people who don't believe him. he's always had the same approach. And he's not saying he doesn't care very much about beating him...

BTW, about no one having won an event 8 times in a row... am I wrong or isn't it that no one had won an event 7 times in a row until Rafa won Montecarlo again last year?.

That's what was reported so I think Rafa may already have the record for seven straight.

Did Nadal win seven of the same tournament in a row???

He's the true GOAT!

Put it this way, if you were asked whether you we’re obsessed about beating an opponent by one of today’s journalists, you wouldn’t give them anything, so that’s the best way to play it. The last thing you want to do as an athlete is to spark or sharpen the focus of an opponent because of what you said. If I said that I was really obsessed about beating you, you would now make sure that it wouldn’t happen, especially because you said it. Far better to stay quiet and plan your ambush, that’s what all the best teams do. They even talk up their opponents and hope they read that in the papers.

Beating Djokovic gets boring when you've beaten him 29 times, and won 4 of their last 6 meetings.... that's what Nadal has done, and most likely about to make it 30 times when they meet at Monte Carlo, Madrid or Rome, and 31 times when they meet at Roland Garros. Beating Federer is a lot more fun....
