Nadal v federer reality check

I still think it wont happen...but should Nadal v Federer actually be the final i think it will be an anti climax. Despite the Federer fans confidence the reality is if Nadal plays well he will beat Federer with ease and at worse in 4 sets.

Here is why. At AO 2017, to date Federers only win over Nadal at a Major off grass, a far better Federer than now beat a far worse Nadal than now who was tired after almost a 6hr SF with a days less rest in 5 sets.

6 weeks ago Federer on his best surface took over 3 hrs beating a poor Nadal on his worse surface. Meanwhile at RG Nadal playing at about 70 per cent beat a federer red lining it with consumate ease.

All the evidence points to Nadal taking Federer down fairly routinely and id suggest wawrinka or medvedev will be a tougher final for Nadal should he make it.

I've heard this so often since 2015 that I can't take it serious anymore. We'll see what happens. If Federer loses the first set, then Nadal will have a huge advantage. If Fedr wins the first set, it'll be a routine 4 set victory for Federer. Both ways, the first set is key.

Incredible that Rafa and Fed have never met at the U.S. Open.
This match is destined to happen...

Actually I am more afraid of a Fed vs Rublev final.

Exactly . Fed has a hard road to get to Sunday, but should he get Nadal , that would be a relative cakewalk
U actually believe that . Dimitrov.....

Remember roland Garros......more to come. Im dying for Federer in final to face Rafa. Waited 12 years. Lets hope Federer has the cahonas to turn up

When Nadal and Djoker cross Fed's slam count and separate themselves with a good margin, I will accept.

Nadal is clay GOAT and he will always have that.
Lol just lol. Now Nadal has to get to 25 majors or something...some federer fans have to be the most gutless deluded fanbase in sport.

I set down the gauntlet....now stop whining and pick it up.

Right now Federer 3rd wheel...up to him to close the gap on the Big 2. Beating Nadal in the final is a must for his CV.

To call Rafa the clay GOAT and Roger the GOAT in the same sentence is completely disingenuous. Roger will never have 1/100th as strong a GOAT claim as Rafael has a clay GOAT claim.
Ive rattled the tennisaddict so expect more bizarre posts below lol.

There is nothing disingenuous. Djokovic has more overall credentials and can have an argument if he is around the same ball park as Fed.

Nadal is short on several metrics . His major tally is primarily from FO.

Well, I will say this. It is a much bigger deal fo Fed to win then Rafa. If Fed loses to Rafa, it is not a good look, and it will only be a matter of time.

However, if Fed beats Rafa, it is even a worse look, and pretty much cements that debate for good.

So, we always say every slam is "so important," but in my opinion, this one actually is.

Fed losing back to back finals against his two rivals is bad. But Rafa losing once again to Fed in a final would be devastating as well.

I am so nervous, yet, for Fed, he needs this opportunity more than Rafa needs this opportunity.

Regardless if they do meet and it being the final it will probably be the most expensive ticket in sports history. And the crowd will definitely be in Feds favor I take Fed in 4.

Why? Federer will drive every backhand return and play offensive baseline tennis vs. Nadal, as he has every time since AO 2017. Why would this match go any differently? It ain't clay.

Also, how is Federer far worse and Nadal far better than in 2017? Based on WHAT?

Frednatics vacillate between extreme depression and overconfidence so easily. Such a bipolar fanbase.

Based on OP’s wishes.

The fact is: anything can happen, and I really don’t know who would win.

And I hope that they will never meet again. I’m not interested in these matches anymore.

Quite an interesting situation to see what the crowd support breakdown would be if it were a Fedal final. They love Rafa in New York, but not to the same extent as Roger.

If you're calling Dimitrov, Raonic etc a different generation than Medvedev, khachanov etc then you have to realize that the 5 and 6 year age difference between Federer and Nadal and Djokovic also puts them in different generations. Reality is that Federer should have won Wimbledon (if not for a huge choke) against the world #1 who is 6 years younger than he is. What makes it so significant is the drop off after 35 is significant but Fed is still in the mix late in almost every tournament. Now he is being beaten by the younger guys like Rublev and Tsitsipas which is the natural order of things.

"A far better Federer than now". That is your huge mistake already.

Federer just came back from his injury and needed 5 sets to beat Nishikori and Wawrinka. He wasn’t as good already as later in Indian Wells or Wimbledon.

If Nadal now is better or worse than that tournament is difficult to say.

Federer is nowhere near his AO 2017 level. Long time since he won a Major.
