Nadal will NOT win FO 2021

nadal is the only player, male or female, to win 100 matches at one grand slam

he only lost 2 matches at FO so far since 2005 (2009 4th Round and 2015 QF) and withdraw in FO 2016 before 4th round match

The Vamos hand wringing is starting early this year LOL
If I was motivated I could make a killing off of superstitious Nadal fans, selling anti-jinx medallions, anti-curse certificates issued by Gypsy shamans, posters of Djokovic with the eyes scratched out and an "X" over the mouth in thick black texta etc.

edit: @TWMods consider stocking a line of such items on your store, thank me later.

It might be more relevant to debate whether he will lose a set at RG in 2021. He seems to have started a habit of winning the FO without losing a set in the last few years.

Besides Djokovic at his absolute best, who can beat him? We don't have a single great clay specialist on tour, all the NextGenners are hardcourt specialists.

Specialists? What do we need 'specialists' for, all the surfaces play the same now, apparently? :sneaky:

I do think one remarkable and often overlooked aspect is that Nadal has dominated the European players on the surface they know best!! Very few of them would have grown up playing on hardcourts and certainly not grass. They all learned their trade on red clay. As such, you would think it would be the most competitive of the slams as they all know how to move on it and play on it, but most years, Rafa' turns the clay court season into a one horse race. This makes his 13 FOs even more GOATy imo.

It will be hot and dry this June in all likelihood not 12c damp conditions that kill his spin. He won last year without dropping a set.
If anyone gets him to a TB let alone wins a set ill be stunned. Rafa has a glorious chance to get 21. I doubt he misses it.
Djokovic fans do not like FO 2020 final being mentioned but it is so significant as for years people have said Nadal was lucky to avoid Djokovic and he win because Thiem and Djokovic have been in same half. Last year, in conditions that didnt suit him he had Thiem in his half and then faced Djokovic in the final.
Any lingering doubts have been utterly destroyed. Only way Rafa fails to win FO 2021 is if he is injured (to avoid this she should skip Miami) or if covid causes tennis to be suspended.
The condition suited neither of the two players. I respect Nadal's greatness on clay but people have to stop with this "Djokovic Open" "closed roof=faster conditions" nonsense.
Djokovic's serve was made useless and his flat shots had zero penetration. Nadal actually had a slight advantage as his forehand and backhand technique allows him to generate more pace on slow balls.
Djokovic was also far from is greatest form. He was extremely inaccurate so that final was on the same level of competitiveness as the AO 2019 final. Neither of the two players really got into the match.

Again, I know what Nadal is capable of on clay and I must admit that at times he is literally untouchable. However, I think FO2020 gave Rafa fans a false sense of security. Don't be surprised if his slow decline is exposed during this year's edition.

Djokovic and Ivanisevic said conditions were perfect for Djokovic.
And to say Nadal is capable on clay in the understatement of the last 2000 years probably.
Did you see what Nadal.did to Djokovic Rome 2019?

He won FO 2020 in the worst conditions imaginable with no prep tournaments on the clay apart from rome, roof closed for entire duration of final when we know he does not excel indoors and dude rarely played prior to FO due to the lockdown. And despite all of this he won without losing a set. If anything, he is more of a lock now to win this edition of the FO more than ever, it would take a monumental like effort to beat him yet again.

Nadal wins FO even if it is played under water.

When one loses they troll.
Bud i am going off the world no.1 comments. He said conditions were perfect. He got spanked. The end.
I know what Nadal is capable of on clay =/= I know that Nadal is capable on clay.
Please get some sleep.

Well, the OP arguments are there, obviously, just for the fun of the thread, but carrying a back ailment can incapacitate even the God of Clay. We'll see.

I thought Federer had 100 wins at AO and Wimbledon as well ?

Some people said last year that it would be hard for him to win & before the final that for the first time djoko was maybe favorite.
Some people said this year before AO final that this time djokovic was not the favorite like the others years, bookmakers put him only at 52% & 48% for Daniil.

I did believe that it was true & I will not do the same error again. I'm affraid to be ridiculous ! lol
Never underestimate those "cyborg players"

(I'm so affraid to be ridiculous that I haven't say yet that Fed will not win a GS anymore ... lol)

law of averages stops everyone from winning more than 4-5 times on trot.
Has stopped Nadal 2 times.
Had stopped Federer from winnig more than 5 on Grass.
Had stopped Borg
Always happens

But lets see, I am not counting on Nadal to lose as yet.

As the title says. I have this feeling that Nadal will not win this time. Each time he achieved a streak of 4-5 FOs in a row it got broken. Also 13 is a very unlucky number and Nadal is now cursed to stay at 13 FOs.

Nadal fans will need Nadal to cakewalk this years US Open in order to get the sole Slam record.

Feel free to bump this thread after FO.
The only thing stopping him from winning it again would be a side-lining injury. Sorry pal but #21 is coming

The absurdity is that a few people say this every year for every slam, so sooner or later it's going to be true. Just keep saying Novak won't win the next AO. Rafa won't win the RG. Then when it finally happens, just say: "Check my thread. I'm a genius."

It's like my saying, every day: "I just know it's going to rain today." Then when it's a bad day, I say I'm Nostradamus!

You are a fool who has no idea what a Sunny Deol movie can do to Rafa on the eve of the French Open.

I’ve just accepted that Nadal wins the French. Every time I try to get pumped for the French as a Novak fan it’s a disappointment.

In my view, Nadal will lose at 4th round or Quater finals Roland garros 2021 and Thiem will win Roland Garros 2021.
