man there will be plenty of salt these two months if fed wins undefeated, it will be worse than in 2015
Federer the same for skipping clay.
Fedal partisanship is really disgusting.
With any luck he comes to his senses and plays Brisbane. I wonder about Fed sometimes - his scheduling needs work, even if it's improved the last year or two.Federer is not playing Brisbane, he’s playing the Hopman Cup. Federer did everything he could to keep from taking over the no. 1 ranking and you guys are still find ways for him to be no. 1.
hopman >>>> brisbaneUggh, but the Hopman cup doesn't give him points right? This is a glorified Exo.
Is that at the same time or could he play that and Brisbane.
This could be Fed's best/last chance.
If doesn't win AO, Miami and Indian Wells then Nadal is likely to gain ground before the clay court season (Dubai not withstanding)
Fed shouldn't play Brisbane just to get #1 for 2 weeks and risk losing it at AO. Are some of you insane? Roger will only have to finish better than Nadal there and frankly I don't expect much from him there. Certainly not a final again.
I know that, but still.Fed is coming off a 6 month layoff , is 36 years old and a full 5 years older than Rafa. Not the same story by any means.
Yeah but he can likely play a crummy 250 in Queensland and get it despite being semi-retired. That's how good his results per tournament have been. The physical toll and the amount of the tournaments needed to maintain the no. 1 that’s what my statements means. Federer doesn’t want to play that many tournaments. No clay and no. 1 ranking.

He'd be mad not to go for it.

A genuine shot at oldest #1 and he'll let it slip to mess around with Hingis and Pat Rafter or something in Perth?
Lame, Roger. Lame. He's going senile if he wins this undefeated and doesn't play Brisbane.
I know - but he doesn't need to play Brisbane to get #1 back in January. Anyway, it seems clear that he's not that bothered about #1 at this stage.
Wise decision. Two majors and the year-end #1. That's what it's all about.

actually its not that he's not bothered about #1.
He did seriously want it after Wimbledon this year and he stated so, but the back injury ruined his chances and he didn't want to risk his body further by going after it -- when it was a long shot.
If he wins the YEC undefeated, he'll be only 140 points behind Nadal.
I don't see a real good reason to play Hopman Cup instead of Brisbane in that scenario, when he can get to #1.
.
Nah not really. People like Davydenko and Nalbandian has won it in the past, and they aren’t exactly hall of fame.
It’s also only played indoors...

He'd look like he was going all out for the number one which he would and I doubt Federer will do this. He could have played Paris and got a chance of it but he didn't, he's got more weeks at number one than anyone. I believe Federer will always look at number one as a by product of winning events and that is his main focus. He doesn't want brisbane, he just wants a warm up for the AO. Nadal has killed his knees to get number one, I don't expect Federer to alter his schedule or play when not fit to do that
Nadal quits Paris and then quits London - very opportunistic, to say the least.
As a Federer fan, I'm pissed off. It's obvious he started quiting from Paris and then London with little pain and when #1 is secured.
If Federer had played in Paris, Nadal would have gone all the way in both tournaments.
Fed should have made an appearance in Paris to keep the pressure on.
And next year Fed need to win the Australian again and Nadal doesn't reach the final to be #1. A tall order.
It's a shame if Fed doesn't get to #1 after a season like this.
well, he'd already played Shanghai and Basel and had to focus on the YEC coming up as well. That's why he skipped Paris.
That was the line that Nadal was a bit naughty. He just left it as a marker he doesn't actually care about Wtf and the sour faces of the journalists showed they realised Nadal was taking the proverbial.Yes his presser was just on Sky
"Merry Xmas everyone and see you next year" lol
Relax guys. WTF is just a social round-robin exhibition.

Really I believe that should be done. Rafa plays Brisbane with 45 points to defend. So if Fed plays Brisbane and wins he's all but guaranteed to be #1he could play Brisbane and skip the Hopman cup.
This is so good. We won't be seeing octomom and the worst part of the VB until april.
I agree with all above but getting the #1 would have made it complete. There's always next year. But Fed had to win Australia and maybe Dubai to clinch it backAs a Federer fan I am completely satisfied with the fact that within a single year Federer has reduced Nadal to his deserved position and made him run away from a fight.
A thing that was unthinkable in the minds of many people at the beginning of this year.
Merry early Christmas to everyone!
Haha dude I'm one of the biggest Fed diehards on here. Fedr is life. I literally made the Fed news thread ffs. I'm just not a hater of other players lolI tell you are not a Federer fan with these statements. Also a real Federer fan would know that Federer is playing Belinda Bencic not Hingis at the Hopman Cup.

Nadal is no.1. Again Federer has ended up behind Nadal. As for running away, I'm sure Federer skipped the whole clay court season. In light of this I assume you are a Nadal fan engaging in satire lol.As a Federer fan I am completely satisfied with the fact that within a single year Federer has reduced Nadal to his deserved position and made him run away from a fight.

Are you a Federer fan? Making the rest of us look bad on here is getting tiring. Chill. Please.
90's Clay was wright all alongTHIS, FOLKS, IS THE GREAT FORFEIT !!!!
NO EXCUSES !!!!
Your fandom is BS because otherwise you would have known that Federer was playing with Bencic at the Hopman Cup. Hingis is not the only Swiss female player. I don’t care what you made on the forum, that doesn’t mean you’re not full of ****. Most of the “fans” talk out their ***, so don’t tell me to Chill and I am not your Dude.

Nadal was always going to pull out. I think I posted he would a few days back.
Nadal really has little interest in wtf. He will say all the right things but his cheeky merry Christmas at end of pressed was a clue to his real feelings. He got YE1, satisfied the sponsors by turning up, now can have a nice holiday. Well deserved for the years best player.

Lol. Serious angst. [emoji38][emoji23]
Probably posting from the court between sets.
I'm comfortable with Nadal leading on points. He played a full calendar and many more events than Fed. He deserves it.Nadal is no.1. Again Federer has ended up behind Nadal. You don't sound it as you keep, posting on here on Nadal threads . After USO I haven't seen a happy Federer fan on other forums and it's the same here. The USO and FO were really hard to bear I think for some for different reasons.I'm comfortable with Nadal leading on points. He played a full calendar and many more events than Fed. He deserves it.
It's titles I care about. Fed has a gritty AO win (over Nadal no less), the big trophy (Wimbledon), and some nice Masters wins including the difficult IW-Miami double. And that's not even mentioning a possible WTF win.
He also (likely) finishes the year in great form and shape, having not ruined his body playing everything under the sun. I'm happy.
That is a beautiful site. Great picture. Tells the story of the year. You are correct, Rafa is the 2017 Year-End ATP World Tour No. 1:

to satisfy corporate sponsors as world no.1 . Nadal hinted his year was done after USO.Why did he play???
He already had #1.
He could have given someone else a chance to do well and have a great experience.
Seems lame to me. Uncool Bull.

As for Nadal I doubt he is injured. He has never bothered about WTF so now has his excuse in for his well earned holiday.
Just lol at accusing me of being a fake fan. I've been up at 3am watching that Swiss pensioner make history more times than I can remember.Your fandom is BS because otherwise you would have known that Federer was playing with Bencic at the Hopman Cup. So you don't believe your guy? You think he's faking injury because he's afraid of being drubbed by Fed again? You don't sound it as you keep, posting on here on Nadal threads . It's important to Fed. But not at the cost of health. He himself had said itFederer can do it, if he really wants it.
Apparently it is not his priority any more and he has built a comfortable lead in that category to not be bothered to pay attention.
Federer's year has been out of this world and the only mentioning in relation to Nadal should be the that he utterly destroyed the myths about the spaniard.
Nah not really. People like Davydenko and Nalbandian has won it in the past, and they aren’t exactly hall of fame.

Quick comparison of the matches they played between Federer and Nadal in their season when both turned 31:
Federer played 83 matches: W-L 71-12
Nadal played 78 matches: W-L 67-11
Tell me about the Nadal overplaying.
Fed tried hard to become world number one (when he turned 31)... But he did not succeed.
Then why aren't you there ?Relax guys. WTF is just a social round-robin exhibition.
