Nadal's indoors ATG position

I have a very simplistic view that the "mental aspect" plays a major role in Sports and performance in general. This is why Djokovic himself admitted that he got Becker as a coach because he felt to overtake both Fed and Nadal, he needed that extra mental toughness. Nadal had won his last 3 BO5 matches (HC, Grass, Clay) coming into that Final against Fed and had won 6 out of the last 7 against Fed. After Fed lost the 2nd set in that 2010 ATP FInal he now must think, "Now I need to win 2 more sets against the guy who beat me 6 out of the last 7. We'll never know what would've happened if it was Bo5 instead of Bo3. Unfortunately, the same can be said about many other tournaments that were watered down from Bo5 to Bo3.

Federer is most comfortable mentally vs Nadal indoors. Game just works better. Bo5 actually reduces Nadal's chances further.

I dont think he IS ranked. LOL. Hes a terrible indoor player. Always has been. 2010 was decent though. Hell I would probably put Corretja over him. He at least has a year end title. Coincidently over Nadal's coach
No Majors indoors so Nadal has never really seemed to me put that much effort in indoors. Not sure he ever plays indoors in February.

No majors indoors is lame excuse, every one in the past were in the same position as Nadal and yet there are at very least 30 players ahead of him, who did better in their entire careers! Besides indoor courts during fall period is considered a warm-up to the YEC, which is considered "mini-slam" (at least back in the days...), so this alone should be a reason enough to push to do better! Stop looking for non-existent reasons as an excuse for Nadal's failures indoors! There is a lone reason for all of his setbacks - indoor low bouncing courts are simply a kryptonite for his style of play...he could never do anything to ever change that, he would have to transform his style and become completely different player with different skill set, even adjusting to the faster grass of 00's wasn't as impossible for him as adjusting to indoor conditions...bottom line is - Nadal and indoor hard courts are just incompatible...end of story...

Legacies are not defined indoors. Never have been. Never will be. Nadal wanted the most grand slams and that goat status and he got it. So his calendar management worked perfectly and not investing in indoor tennis was a part of that.

First of all he didn't "Get" GOAT status yet, it still up i nthe air, especially with Djokovic breathing him right in the back with one slam behind...2nd of all how the last chunk of the season, most specifically last month affects how one performs at Grand Slams, the closest of which is always 2 months away, which includes off-season period, where no tennis is ever played! LOL Most importantly though how does it affect his performances during summer time, when it is packed with elite events when there is a huge 4 months gap between AO and RG!...You aren't making any sense at all...stop posting and embarassing yourself...

Why so angry? I am right it's as simple as that as I am just repeating what Nadal and his uncle have said many times.
There is nothing to gain during the indoor season. There are no grand slams and the one thing you correctly point out is that the indoor season has zero relevance for what happens in Australia. So these indoor events are not even warm up events.
I have watched tennis for 30 years and virtually every year players who have done the best at the Majors that year tail off during the indoor season. It just is not important. As Nadal himself said the other day he goes to Turin with nothing to lose after a great year and just wants to get some practice in playing the top guys.
Don't take it up with me, rafa is on twitter message him there if you take issue with his calendar management.
And for 2 decades the person with most slams has been current goat. Since February that has been Nadal. Nobody expected that to the case. But it is.

I'll need to look into his position while indoors but his position here in outdoors HC looks pretty ATG to me:

As a teenager he defeated the #2 player in the world in a big indoors Davis Cup match that was a BO5 match. He came back from two sets to win three in a row to defeat Ljubicic in a HC Indoors BO5 final.

After the elimination of Indoor Carpet, the indoor events have become more of a niche. A guy like FAA might join Medvedev in becoming a major force on Indoor HC.

However, I do think Nadal should make an effort and play the ATP Finals unless he has a serious injury.

How many terrible indoors players have won an indoors M1000 at 19 years old, as he did in Madrid 2005?
