Net cord apology needs to be eliminated

If you were truly sorry, you'd either give the opponent the point, or offer to replay the point.
Does the opponent apologize when you hit the net cord and it does not go over? No.
Never apologize for a net cord. It is a phony and brainless tradition.

This is the correct authentic and honest reaction. Be authentic and honest !

Here is another appropriate net cord reaction

Strong disagree unless you’re trying to hit the net cord on purpose and succeed. I apologize for bad mis hits and netcord winners. I apologize because I could have won the point with more style. Saying sorry when you hit the netcord helps create a baseline sportsmanship that extends to when you peg your opponent and say sorry. The tradition is to stop at sorry, the latter part is just implied. So “ I’m sorry…. I did not hit you harder”. This is the way.

Do players say sorry when hawkeye shows the ball hit the line by 1mm? No, in fact they call up hawkeye to try confirm a jammy shot.

Depends on the type of shot in my opinion.

Drop shot: no need to apologise
Anything else: apologise, or at least acknowledge it in some way

When the game's best player fist-pumps while his opponent is screaming in pain on the ground...the apology/acknowledgment is probably outdated.

Disagree.
IMO player who hits the net cord doesn't deserve the point, you should pass the ball over it but that's just me I guess
I agree with you. They weren't aiming for the net cord, they didn't have good control, yet, because of luck they win the point anyhow. But a net cord that drops on their own side, that's ok, they failed to have any clearance in the first place, so they should lose the point.

I'd like to make it a rule that net cords don't count as points, but there are too many that hardly affect the ball at all and then how do you decide when it counts and when it doesn't?
