New Laserfibre strings?!

If, and I REALLY mean if, Laserfibre is making strings again AND if it is the same "distributor/company" that is selling them stay WAY far away from them. Like someone else posted this goes way back in the threads about strings. I bought some, along with another TT member, parasailing, back some years ago. Once we received the Supernatural Pro Stock strings, parasailing noticed they did not look right. He did some checking and found someone that actually had the REAL Supernatural Pro Stock strings. What we received from LaserFibre was NOT the correct string sets even though they were in the Supernatural Pro Stock packaging. It took a while to get our money back through PayPal, if I remember correctly, but the company never responded to my emails, phone calls, nor actual letter I sent to them. I am so done with that company. I use to use that string some years back and it was a GREAT string. I had stopped playing tennis for some years and when I got back into playing I wanted to get the same strings I had been using. Big disappointment from that company and their switching the strings in the packaging to some other string.

I remember that thread.

They put their cheap synthetic gut inside their Supernatural Pro Stock packaging to pass it off as their most popular and expensive offering to unsuspecting customers, right?

I used and loved LF strings. Each string they produced was outstanding. I know for a fact their strings were unique and performed at a high level. I also believe at least some were laser treated because I was purchasing in special packaging, ie 330' reels. From time to time I would find spots in the strings that were melted. (LaserLite XL for one) I'm hoping LF is indeed back and if they are, I will gladly carry and promote their products for my local stringing customers. I hope that Tim is involved in design because say what you like about him, but he produced some GREAT PLAYING strings!

Just make sure you are actually getting the product you order. Just a FYI. Something changed in their business practice towards the end, not for the better.

I will say that is is totally unethical to deceive your customers. I don't think it matters now given how far string technology has come in the past five years especially polys. We have good strings out in the market that are comparable and we don't have to deal with a shady company.

It wasn't all that bad as I did end up meeting a good TT member, mctennis, in the process :).

Parasailing, ditto!

I can confirm that this is new ownership. Spoke to a shop owner that brought the product in.

Let's hope it's the old products, then, or at least the old quality, not just reviving the old brand with some generic products

Yes and if it is under new ownership, I definitely want to try it since it has such great reviews when it was in stock. Hopefully the price will be reasonable and not $20 since current copolys on the market is pretty comparable in terms of performance.

For those that are interested, they have come out with 2 strings, Laserfibre Laser 1200 and Vorso. I am not sure either one is Pro stock but looks like the company is releasing some products.

Vorso is in my local shop. I almost bought it this weekend but backed out. Then the next day I bought a few strings online. The dam has broken, soon I must test again... ;)

Did you ever have a chance to test out the original Laserfibre Supernatural Pro Stock string? If you did, I wonder if it's comparable to the Laser 1200 or whether we have to wait a while for them to release that string.

Let me know what you think of either Laserfibre string though if they going into poly, this would be an entirely new realm for them.

That's great but I want the prostock, forget these new strings.

We don't know if the Laser 1200 is Prostock so until someone who actually tried out the old and this, we will never know. I never had the opportunity to try out the ProStock string so even if I were to purchase it, I wouldn't have a clue to whether this was the highly sought after string.

I have not tried any Laserfibre strings to date.

I'm with you,my friend. I will wait until I see some reviews on these "new" strings. "Once bitten, twice shy." Sounds like a good title for a song, doesn't it?

Are these going to be carried by TW?
I finally got my hands on Vorso 16g. My local shop got some through f r o m u t h to try out. I've only hit with it about 3 times, but so far so good. It is a very soft co-poly that really grabs the ball...but I have to say the best thing for me is the amount of power and forgiveness it has for being a co-poly...

Have you ever tried Head Hawk or Hawk Touch or what co-poly would you say is comparable to it?

I asked for this string as a stocking stuffer.

I've tried Head Hawk, which his a good string. But I think Vorso compares more to a Solinco Tour Bite...even more comfortable. Maybe the right answer would be Tour Bite Soft in terms of playability, although I haven't tried that. I have heard that Tour Bite soft isn't the most durable, and so far Vorso is holding up really well.
Thinking Vorso will be my set-up going forward...makes my Prestige MP a little more forgiving...which I (unfortunately) need

So is Vorso just more powerful than Hawk? Hawk Touch is pretty much a softer version of Hawk with the same amount of power but a little more dwell time.

I tried Solinco Tour Bite and Tour Bite Soft and I agree that it doesn't last very long which is why I like Hawk/Hawk Touch which has been tension maintenance.

I just curious whether Vorso just ups the power of Hawk but is a little more comfortable and powerful.

Are they selling this direct now or TW will be selling them soon? Had a couple people that used to be in love with some of their strings.

One of the smaller tennis outlets (hint hint they have 2 stores in Orlando) is carrying one of their polys and one of their multis.

Yes...you hit the nail on the head there. The only thing I would add to that is more bite on the ball.

I look forward to hearing your thoughts. I have played with the Vorso for about 3 hrs now. We can compare notes.

It's hard to say much about it after 1 outing but I liked it. There wasn't any weakness I could see in my first match.

I agree with you, no weaknesses with this string. I have over 4 hrs playing time with Vorso and noticed the following: Vorso settled in and played even better after the first hour of play. It provides plenty of spin and very good feel for a poly. If you like softer poly, it's worth trying for sure. The only negative (if you want to call it negative) is it does have a little different sound than most poly strings I've tried.

Yes, something is a little bit different about the string. It's crisp but somewhat muted too if that makes sense.

Keep us updated on how long the string lasts. I currently have Head Hawk Touch and always on the lookout for a longer lasting string because I really hate restringing my 18x20 Blades.

It is definitely lighter and thinner than Cyclone or Cyclone Tour 16g. My guess is that durability will not be its best attribute.

Guess finding that elusive long lasting poly is not going to happen. So many polys have great playability only downside is poor durability.

I wish I could find that thread. It had a picture of what the actual Supernatural Pro Stock strings looked like. I tried the "search" system but I could not find it. It may be too far back for it to pull up. I even tried TW staff to help look for it but all they could find was this one. Any idea(s) how to find it or what year it was that the original posting about their string was?

Even if we could track down the thread, I doubt we could locate the photo. Many old photos were hosted by PhotoBucket, which has stopped offering the free 3rd party hosting. None of my old photos are still viewable.

is Laserfiber any good ?? at Spin production and power ?

I have played the Supreme 2.0 17G, the Native Tour 17G ans the Vorso 17G. I have posted reviews on them. In general, high quality offerings. The Native Tour is made in the USA. TW has posted reviews for the Vorso and Native Tour. I think they have tested the Supreme 2.0 also. The Native Tour is a very unique string...:)

This string is soft and plays a bit muted. TW gave it a 69 for comfort. Not sure about that. It is overall lower powered and soft with very nice spin production.

I strung up the 17g in my Wilson BLX Blade 98 (18 x 20) and it was a perfect match at 52/50. String movement was minimal... Nice price /performer.

I playtested the RPM blast rough for TW and Babolat. These strings are somewhat alike... but I enjoyed the Vorso much better. Of course I tested the 16G of the

RPM blast rough and I am sure would have liked the 17G better for sure. Vorso is nothing like or ALU Power or Tourbite... closer to TourBite Soft if anything.
