New Pure Drive 2018?!

I really wished the current PD Tour was a different, more menacing cosmetic than just sharing the same-same PJ of the regular PD. There's no differentiation. It should've been the reverse of the regular PD - a black frame with white trim.

Now I wish the next version PD Tour was the same - a reverse PJ of all-black/stealth matte black with blue accents and trim.

I got to try the 2018 PD today - definitely different feel from my current PD (2015 Wimbledon). It is much more muted and less pop.

Less pop? Oh that's not good news.

I may have to give back the one I have been using to the Babolat rep this week. I prefer the full Origin at 57# setup that I initially tried to the RPM Blast/Synthetic hybrid at 51#/56#. I am hoping to try a Xcel/RPM Blast Rough hybrid at 57#/55# next.

Low-medium power level but just as stiff as the last one? (did she actually say that?)

Babolat introduces a new 2018 update to the iconic Pure Drive. Babolat’s new updated version of the Pure Drive provides a newly improved vibration dampening system known a Cortex Pure Feel. The new Cortex Pure Feeltechnology offers better vibration dampening thanks to new material integrated into the graphite of the racquet that helps provide pristine sound and a more direct feel during ball contact.

Like previous generations of the Pure Drive, the racquet will keep its anti-twisting Elliptical Frame Shape which allows for ample power within the frame. Woofer technology is also integrated into the new 2018 frame. Babolat’s Woofertechnology allows strings to interact more with the ball upon impact, giving more stringbed snap-back resulting in added spin. Babolat continues the use of FSI technology, a string pattern that offers more forgiveness and additional power on each hit.

To go with the technology updates, Babolat gave the 2018 Pure Drive an updated paint scheme with a light blue and white look. Overall, the new 2018 model is a fantastic update to the Pure Drive series, serving as a versatile power racquet with a comfortable, controllable feel.

Looking for a comfortable (if that exists) 300g 100sqin tweener, I was hoping for a softer version of the PD but a new PD is still a PD. We will see how this one plays! Is there a chance the new Pure feel system could tame the stiffness?
That said, the V Sense 8, which is often presented as a comfortable PD has a high RA too, meaning that a good dampening system may help a lot. Or is it because the VSense 8 is not as stiff as suggested by its RA?

Just measured the specs again on the new Pure Drive and the most recent Pure Drive.
I calibrated my other diagnostic tool the FZ Forza which is the exact machine as the Gamma 3 in 1 Racquet Test Center and Prince Precision Tuning Center.
I apologize for not calibrating my RDC previously.

Pure Drive 2015-2017
Static Weight 327g
Balance 8pts HL, 32.0cm
Swing Weight 314kg/cm2

Pure Drive 2018
Static Weight 329g

This is Strung spec ?? SW 326 WOW. Major disaster...that is on PD standard length. so the PD Plus will have Swing weight of like 335 ........OMG, who is going to buy that ? Nobody. They made this more head heavy with higher static weight. Looks like they were trying make a BASELINE player racket. Nobody can serve and volley in doubles with PD Plus version of this.

Good thing I really stocked up on 2012 PD plus.

Both strung with the exact setup of Babolat RPM Blast 16g in the Mains at 51# and Babolat Synthetic Gut 16g in the Crosses at 56#. No dampener in either and both have an overgrip.
