Hi- I like the direction that TW is taking here (convienence & simplicity).
Here are some ideas TW (sales-wise) and its customers could benefit from. Basically, I think the website's products lacks visibility. Unlike the brick and mortar stores, products don't have the normal shelf advertisement (customers don't see other products, such as string savers when buying strings).
I like how TW shows "similar items to consider" when going into an individual products page. I think they can expand on this in a couple ways. In addition to the similar strings (for example), TW can show products on sale (or priced to reduce inventory) that are in the same class (poly, multi...). Or they can try and promote higher margin products. TW moves the inventory and buyers may try something they otherwise wouldn't have (and also save more).
Similarly TW doesn't make any sales at the "point of sale" (when buyers are checking out). It's like grocery shopping and picking up gum and candy bars as the clerk rings up your items.
Before checkout (or as items are added to the shopping cart), TW could show on the right side-bar other items related to the cart contents that the buyer could use (but not necessarily knows he/she wants it yet). Instead of a continuously updated side bar, TW could just add one more page of suggestions before checkout. [this is similar to what Dell used to do (and still does to some extent) when purchasing computers]
This may increase TW sales and help buyers save on shipping. A person buying strings, may also need string savers, vib. dampeners or grommet sets. Or a person buying racquets may also like to see the strings that the manufacturer recommends, lead tape grommet sets, grips...
just a thought =)
