Nick Kyrios - Fan for his on court behavior

Im happy to see players smash racquets and lose it on court like Gonzo or Marat. But its the spoilt brat attitude behind Kyrgios that craps me off. And if you cant stop swearing on court you have problems in a public sport. Best to learn an obscure language and do it under your breath!

!! Would love to see Fognini or Janowicz in a bad mood going H2H with him. Tennis needs more fistfights on centrecourt!
Fognini would keep his mouth shut, he is this kind of guy I believe who would shut up if the player on the other side of the net had the character to go H2H with him
Janowicz, Rosol or Gulbis would go H2H with Kyrgios no doubt :) (and Gonzalez for sure)

As Nick himself would say, these are "big words for a nobody"

He needs to learn not to cross the line. THEN he'll be good for the sport.
And is that supposed to mean something? I don't need Kyrgios to qualify my statements for me. Connors crossed the lines more times than he didn't. And he is the single most important reason tennis has reached the heights it now rests on. And BTW, you have to be living in la-la land to think Kyrgios has somehow "crossed the line". He made a harmless jab on twitter and is unruly on court. Lets not send him before the International Criminal Court now.

I don't care, as far as he keeps me entertaining with his unorthodox offensive shot making. I generally ignore personalities of Tennis Players, I do focus on their Tennis. He brings variety in game. We don't need hundred Roger Federers on tour. As far as he cools down a bit, don't breaks rules on court, stops disrespecting opponents and officials, I will continue to be fan of his otherwise not. It seems that his recent behavior is crossing the boundary purposefully. Certainly needs improvements in this area and we will see.

Buddy, easy with the condescension there. I was simply making two points.

1) it's all very well for you to praise kyrgios now. How would feel if he had turned his contempt and scorn on you for being a "nobody"?

2) neither you nor I are sitting in judgement on this fellow's future. We are simply fans on a tennis board with opinions. And in my opinion, and the opinion of others on this thread, that "jab" crossed a line. That ought to be fairly easy for you to accept.

I would also like to say, which I didn't say in the previous post, that in addition to being men or women who engage in sporting endeavours for our amusement, athletes are also role models. I don't want my child growing up with the present Nick kyrgios as a role model. I don't want my child believing that on-court antics and condescension to common people are acceptable forms of behaviour. I'd much rather my child learned politeness, respect for opponents and humility from the "zombies"

I'm done discussing this with you sir. I've commented in the past on your propensity for condescension.

Have a nice day

This topic is so weird… Now I'm reading that Connors is the father of tennis' popularity? Wut? Tennis' first real superstar was Borg. He showed so much controversial behavior and attitude on court that he was called the iceberg. Oh wait.

Seriously SMH, the excuses are becoming laughable

That's funny, I just posted the opposite on another forum-
"Will Kyrgios ever grow some balls, or always be a toddler at heart?"

While I don't condone his behavior, it sparks attention to tennis. If Kyrgios wasn't so spunky and rambunctious (call him rude and childish if you wish), we would still be talking about how the draw is BS and the ban of Stans shorts.

The guy might not have class, but his play speaks for itself. I think we'll find him in the QF this tournament.

Whether I like or dislike it has nothing to do about whether it is effective. And it is very effective. Kyrgios has more discussion around him than many players more highly ranked than he. He is a more intruiging character than most in the top 10. People may love him, people may hate him, but people are paying attention to him. And that is one genuine attempt to solve the pervasive problem in modern tennis. No one cares about players beyond the Big 4 to any significant degree. Kyrgios as of now has that shot, and if he can do it with the aplomb and attitude of a bygone era, even better.
I'll give you this.
Bringing interest to the sport is a good thing, and he definitely does this.
However, it has to be the right kind of interest.

I don't think it would ever be acceptable, but if he actually wins something of note then some people may (incorrectly) see fit to cut him some slack on his crappy attitude.

He's not going to win a slam anyway... Too much of a headcase.

"He's not going to win a slam anyway... Too much of a headcase"...I'm sure this line was said about Johnny Mac, Nastase, Conners, Roddick..and we all know how that turned out.

J-Mac and Andre were beloved for their "brattitude"..have we all become old conservative pussies? LMAO

He's childish and needs to grow up. He takes the easy way out instead of the mature way. Just another young man that thinks he is the center of the universe because his testestorone level and likely his mommy tells him he is the greatest. Really, isn't his behavior pretty boorish? At least half the time when he argues, he is wrong. He makes a big deal about having sex like it is the first time a teenage boy discovered he liked sex. He makes comments denigrating others not as fortunate as him which shows a real lack of maturity and class. Geez, just shut up and play and leave the adolescent behaviour off the court.

didn't i read somewhere that he wasn't enjoying tennis and that he really didn't want to be out there? if that is the case, then why doesn't he just take a break? i tend to ignore jerks, and kyrgios means absolutely nothing to me. but there have been a few threads on this guy already, so i will say this:

in general, people at work (and tennis is his job) don't appreciate it when they have to listen to someone else whining about having to be at work.

if being at work makes you insufferably b*tchy . . . consider taking a vacation.

Revelation hit me last night when I was dreaming about Pro tour. Nick Kyrios is METALLY WEAK. That is why he behaves so weird and semi-tank in so many matches. but he is Ultra Talented so he is still top 20. Imagine what if Kyrios had David Ferrer mental toughness ............................................ IMAGINE............................

It is part of his PR. He's trying to be seen as a bad boy.

Which makes it ironic that he was calling out the umpire for acting tough. Getting lines in your eyebrows and acting too cool for school just makes you look like an idiot.
Yeah, if you want a real "bad boy" from recent times, you can look at Marat Safin. He had the swagger, the explosive temper, the streaky tennis, the natural charm, but he never jacked off on court or personally insulted other players in game.

How could anyone find Nick's game "boring?" Do you think Thiem or Zverev's one dimensional games are more interesting? Nick's game has NOTHING in common with Anderson's and he's about 500 trillion times more interesting in terms of personality. :D

I don't see how they AREN'T the same guy. Except for Anderson just being a better player and Nick being more flamboyent.

Both are servebots that live or die on thier FH in rallies. Neither is particularly skilled at any other facet of the game. Anderson is just a better, more consistent version of NK. NK's personality is just a fresh coat of paint over a rusted 1980s car. It looks great and flashy until you realize the AC is dead and the brakes are out. Then you realize, hey, this dude is basically just the Kim Kardashian of Tennis...

And if you had 10,000,000 women lined up in a long row, 99.9% would bang Nick over Anderson. And if you had every tennis fan the world over and asked them to choose who'd they rather watch play a match, 99.9999% are watching Nick over Anderson. That's the salient point.

So were Pete, Boris and Safin and Roddick. They have 23 slams among them.

Of course they will choose Nick over Anderson. Most women like bad boys (despite pretending that they dont) and Nick fits this image perfectly

Just like a lot of men like bad girls.

What do bad boys and bad girls have in common? It's not only their behavior. They take care of their look, usually go to the gym, post narcisistic pictures of themselves on Instagram, like to wear extravagant hairstyles, etc.

Has nothing to do with being a "bad boy."

Nick is above average looking and Anderson is not, and we were isolating them on who was more desirable. And anyone that dares post, "OMG, how shallow to judge people on their looks!"needs to knock off their pious hypocrisy and focus on who is more bangable from a woman's point of view. If you're male, stay out of judging this unless you're gay,

I got no interest in thier bangability. Just making the point that they’re the same, very limited player. One significantly, objectively better at tennis, the other a boorish drama queen.

I just don’t get the interest in watching NK. He’s never going to amount to anything. He just serves really hard and whips his FH as hard as he can. As you said, there are a dozen other dudes who do that, many at a higher level. If the attraction is the flair and drama he brings, might as well watch the Kardashians.

He can be annoying but at least he is honest and wears his heart on his sleeve unlike a particular player who is supposedly classy.

Looks like this post about Nick started in 2015 [new here] and since then he hasns't won a major or not much of anything. Ignore his BS.

While I dont hate NK for his antics like many do (lighten up people!) I'm surprised that he hasn't gotten bored of his schtick.

At what point do you decide that tweeners are not more important than winning a 1000 or major? Bummer he is still stuck in clown mode since he came on tour.

He's still a player.

I was watching the replay of the match with Monaco and am thrilled that there is finally someone who is engaging the crowd and having conversations too. What a breath of fresh air? I have seen some old clips of Nastase or someone else of that time, having conversations with the crowd just like that. The current top 4 may have all the talent that one would want but are just not entertainers like him. I would definitely pay to watch Nick Kyrios and his talent is not that bad. Wishing he wins many GSs with his on court behavior intact!
What do you guys think??
No tank, no problem.

If he tanks, he's a skank.
